Meet Jazz and Erica Nixon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazz and Erica Nixon.

Jazz and Erica Nixon

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We really just took a leap of faith, relocating from Trenton, NJ, to Katy, TX, right in the midst of the pandemic. The move left us missing our family, friends, and the LIT kickbacks and game nights we used to host back home. We soon realized of the importance of celebrating life with loved ones.

Yearning for those good times, we decided to turn our longing into a family business. Starting on a whim, we faced personal and business challenges being new to Texas without our usual support system. The struggle was real, but our determination to push through, both personally and in our venture, kept us going.

We’re passionate about what we do because we believe every day deserves to be celebrated. Seeing people have a good time brings us immense joy. Life’s too short not to savor every moment, and that’s the perspective we bring to our business. Despite the hardships, we’ve found purpose and fulfillment in creating moments of celebration for others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Our journey has been anything but a smooth road. While it might seem otherwise from the outside, we’ve built our business with integrity, navigating challenges that aren’t always visible. The internet might suggest starting a business is a breeze, but the real struggle lies in making it thrive.

Growing a successful business demands long nights, early mornings, sacrifices, and relentless research. Balancing work, family, and business while raising children adds another layer to the struggle. Yet, we firmly believe that God assigns the toughest battles to the strongest soldiers.

It’s a constant push, and we keep going. The journey has taught us that resilience and faith are the driving forces behind every milestone.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m Erica, and my career in Payroll began in 2015. Known for my diligence, attention to detail, and unwavering integrity, I’ve consistently advocated for my growth. Proudly, I now work from home, managing payroll for five different companies. Climbing the ranks, I’ve secured a leadership role, breaking barriers as a black woman in the field.

As for Jazz, I’m a proud army vet with infantry experience in Iraq and Afghanistan. Transitioning to full-time in our family business, I’ve found purpose alongside my wife. What sets me apart is my unique journey – from combat zones to cultivating a thriving business. I’m grateful for this path and couldn’t imagine life any other way.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
We honestly don’t have a favorite childhood memory. We just have memories. Over the past 12 years, we continued to learn and grow in our marriage. We have had uncomfortable conversations and realized as we raise children of our own, our focus is on breaking generational curses. The childhoods we’ve experienced made us who we are today, and for that, we are forever grateful.
