Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon McIntire.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Shannon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in a small town in Oklahoma. I moved to Houston in 1998 and immediately fell in love with the city. I worked downtown at a brokerage firm for 7 years when I had the realization that life is too short to not love what you do. I’ve always been drawn to the beauty industry and fascinated with skin both from a clinical and aesthetic aspect, and decided that I wanted to become an aesthetician. I was very lucky that my husband Gary supported my decision and I left my job to attend aesthetics school full time. Right after I graduated, I began working as an Aesthetician at a day spa in Kingwood. I loved my clients and the work, but for a number of reasons it was time to move on. I had dreamed of opening my own skin care business since I was in school, and in 2012 I took the leap and founded Shannon McIntire Skin Care.
Has it been a smooth road?
I’m pretty sure any entrepreneur or business owner would tell you there’s no such thing as a smooth road in building your business! It is hard, stressful work. I’ve faced several challenges along the way. My business plan changed several times because what I thought was a great idea didn’t work out. My mother passed away from cancer 2 months after I opened the business. I had some major water damage to my space that had to be repaired. I had to get a total hip replacement surgery last summer and couldn’t work for about a month. There’s always going to be some unexpected obstacle that comes up, the trick is to adapt, make the changes that need to be done and keep going.

Our goal at Shannon McIntire Skin Care is to help people look and feel their best by offering treatments and skin care completely customized for every client at each visit. We are most known for our anti-aging treatments. Our services include facials, peels, LED light therapy, dermaplaning, injectables, waxing, airbrush tanning and more. We want you to enjoy our boutique and personal feel, which reflects the bespoke nature of our services. I also respect my clients’ need for privacy, which is why we book by appointment only. I’m most proud of being able to create a space and environment where my clients can come to rest, relax, and be pampered.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I absolutely believe Houston is a great place for starting a business! One of the things I love most about our city is the support of locally owned small businesses. I’m lucky to live here, it’s a great city for businesses.
