Today, we’d like to introduce you to Robelis Rodriguez Moscovis.
Hi Robelis, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born and raised in Venezuela, I now live in Houston, TX. Since I was a little girl, I knew one of my passions was dance. My mom couldn’t afford to put my two sisters and me in dance classes, but in college, I did belly dance and salsa with different styles, which allowed me to travel for presentations around my country. I graduated in 2010 (B.Sc. in Nutrition and Dietetics) at The Central University of Venezuela.
I moved that same year to the U.S. where I discovered Zumba® which became an outlet to fulfill my passion for dance, and the freedom to choose my schedule since I became a mom of two girls. Now I teach Zumba in 2 different gyms, virtual Belly Dance class Friday mornings and I rent my own space where I teach every Tuesday morning in Katy, TX.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been challenging like any other new beginning; having a lot of patience and consistency has been the key to keep growing slowly but surely, finding the right people who like my style, energy, and personality. The biggest struggle was stepping out of my comfort zone and promoting myself because I’m my own brand inside of Zumba as a Zumba Jammer, which started in 2020 a new role and the biggest opportunity I ever dreamed of, now being an instructor of Instructors, specifically one Rythm that I love “Belly Dance” and making the Instructors respect my work and appreciate the hard work that goes behind each Jam Session that we provide monthly.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Belly Dance Zumba Jammer based in Houston, Texas, and a Zumba Instructor with 10+ years of experience.
My purpose in each class is to give a space to be yourself, enjoy, let go, and gain confidence. I also teach virtually Belly Dance on Friday mornings through Zoom and in-person Zumba on Tuesday mornings in Katy, TX, close to the Katy Mills Mall.
I work with Zumba as a Zumba Jammer helping instructors with trainings called ZIN Jam Sessions virtual and in person.
Any instructor around the world can register and learn new chores for their Zumba classes. Find one at: robelisr.zumba.com

What do you think about happiness?
I’m a mom of 2 beautiful girls, and having time to spend with them after work is important. To make memories with them, my husband, and my family is priceless.
The human connections formed through this journey of Zumba have been rewarding; all cultures, languages, and colors don’t matter. We connect with music and dance.
