Today, we’d like to introduce you to Bria Jordan.
Hi Bria, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My life has always revolved around fashion for as long as I can remember! My first design was for a friend’s prom – I was 10. I pursued my career in fashion as much as I possibly could! I acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from the Art Institute of Dallas in 2016 and went on to make a name for myself in the custom clothing industry.
In 2018, I had the opportunity to showcase a collection in New York Fashion Week with Oxford Fashion Studio!
I decided to take a step back once I got married and brought my baby girl into the world, but now I am back exploring creative ways to make fashion fun again for myself.
I started in the content creation space back in 2022, but just recently started to take it more seriously! I am enjoying every bit of it as I am currently participating in the 75 Hard Style Challenge. This has allowed me to shop my own closet and think of creative ways to wear the items I currently own while also sewing again for myself.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I am grateful for that. I have worked hard for and earned everything I have. It feels great knowing that I’ve had to learn some things along the way because it allows me to show up in spaces better! I can also look back on those times when I had to overcome challenges and be encouraged that most of the challenging seasons were just those seasons. They were temporary setbacks that allowed me to grow.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a fashion designer, but I am also creative in the sense that I’ve truly dabbled in every arena possible in the creative space. I have done photography, graphic design, dance, and even played the clarinet.
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum, and that is definitely reflected in my designs and how I dress. I try to always push myself to try new things, whether that be playing around with textures and prints or wearing something bold!
In this life, I am most proud of my work being featured in NYFW, as well as finding my voice and sense of self again after a battle with postpartum depression and anxiety.
I think what sets me apart is that I am not afraid to try anything new, even if it makes me look crazy!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I hope that there will be more sustainable options as well as transparency from brands. I do think that we are more mindful as consumers about where we put our money. I am hoping that we support more minority-owned, small and local businesses as well!
