Life & Work with Denizhan Ozkar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denizhan Ozkar.

Denizhan Ozkar

Hi Denizhan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
In my childhood, I felt an unexplainable urge – an insatiable hunger for art and music. With no plans or discipline, I would disappear into my room, spending hours sketching and playing musical instruments. During my teenage years, I became an avid metal music enthusiast and even joined a local band as the drummer. Metal’s intensity became part of my identity.

I discovered tattoo art, an essential element of metal culture. I found myself transitioning from drawing on paper to inking images onto people’s bodies.

My journey is a testament to following one’s passions. From childhood dreams to the beat of music and finally to the intimate art of tattooing, it’s been a personal odyssey of self-discovery and expression. It reminds me that passions can evolve in unexpected, beautiful ways, shaping our lives profoundly.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Certainly, mastering any craft requires dedicating a considerable amount of time and effort. It becomes even more challenging when you’re working with a living, dynamic material. The crucial part lies in finding your style and crafting your own unique path.”

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
“I just use black ink for my tattoos because I’ve always been drawn to the allure of primitive tattoos. I don’t particularly enjoy categorizing styles; instead, I prefer to focus on incorporating fine lines, geometric elements, and figures into my designs. I find joy in creating illustrations with these elements, and that’s how I choose to define my work.”

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I advise them to enjoy the process to trust their inner desires instead of getting caught up in worries about problems. From a professional standpoint, the best advice I could give here would be for them to be socially adept.”
