Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheba CreativeAF.
Hi Sheba, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started #CreativeAF Consulting in 2019 to help creative business owners find direction; since I hadn’t done much research on my target audience, I spent the first year struggling to find clients and polish the brand. I ultimately needed to do significant personal development to become a proper businessperson. That’s not something we always hear from the experts, but it’s essential to your brand or business development. I pivoted for a while to develop myself and my business skills, practicing as a life coach and spiritual teacher, which was beneficial to me and many others. I’m grateful for that transition as it was the only way I was ever going to finally let myself say, “I’m Sheba, and I’m an expert.” Maybe that sounds crazy but when you come out of corporate America to be free from your 9-5 you probably are not a boss, yet. That’s what development is for. Finally, in the Winter of 2023, I rebranded under the name MUZE Marketing & Management, focusing on Branding, Marketing, and PR. I supported one of my first clients from 2019, Blake’s BBQ and helped them close their doors to a huge turnout and significant press and media coverage, for that I won my first award from Houston Business Marketing Alliance. In the last year, MUZE has seen remarkable growth, and it’s only going to get bigger and better.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, but I don’t know that it’s supposed to be. I can’t imagine building something from scratch or from the ground up and expecting it to reach completion without some obstacles. I think it’s natural to see some level of difficulty, especially when you’re doing something you’ve never done before. I do believe that there’s some frustration that comes from what we see people doing online not matching what our journey looks like as entrepreneurs. Personally, I struggled with confidence, business organization, understanding sales, and scaling. I didn’t realize that I needed support to go higher, you have to look at it like you’re really building your business in levels. However, once it’s up, it still needs to be managed. So, you have to hire people to manage the parts that you’ve set up already so you can build more.
We’ve been impressed with #CreativeAF MUZE Marketing & Management, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a full-service Marketing and PR firm in Houston. We specialize in publicity and brand development and management, If I had to say we were known for anything it would be PR, but I like to call it fast PR because people tend to come and ask for large media placements in a short time frame. We usually hit, and I’m proud of that because I think having a good pitch can make a significant difference in whether your story is picked up or not. You can’t stop the news cycle, but you might be able to put yourself in it. I’d like to make sure that everyone reading this knows that PR and Publicity are not exactly the same thing because you can be a PR person without Publicity and vice versa. If I help you keep your brand story cohesive through all of your owned media, then that’s PR, and if we’re visiting a television station or the local paper wrote about your story then that’s publicity.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I’m podcasting again, so be on the lookout for more episodes of The Sheba Show on the #CreativeAF Divine Flow, I also have a blog called Divine Society where I cover events, share news, and do interviews. The most important thing I’m working to build right now is actually a Farmers Market for a client at The Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic Development. It’s a food desert, and it’s a neighborhood that just doesn’t have. Follow me on Instagram if you want to see what I do or if you’re wondering if I know how to do it.
