Today we’d like to introduce you to Adjata Sako
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey as a fitness trainer unconsciously started in undergrad where I got my bachelors degree in Exercise Science at Indiana University. At that time, I had aspirations of going into Healthcare Administration and ended up getting my MHA at Texas Woman’s University. I had always had a passion for fitness but never took it seriously until I began training at All-EN Sports Performance in 2021. While being consistent with working out, a lot of my close friends and family encouraged me to start personal training because of my efforts and dedication in the gym. After consideration, I knew I had a passion for fitness and had an idea that I would be good at it, so I went for it! In January 2023 I set a goal to get my CPT certification and the rest is history!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely was not easy starting off because I was completely new to the idea of actually guiding people through their fitness journey and sometimes I would doubt myself that I was actually helping people. When I first started training, I was also working full time as a healthcare consultant so It became difficult mentally to balance the two when I began to fall more in love with training vs my full time career. I began to think should I pursue this full time? Would I be able to sustain my lifestyle training and not knowing how many clients I’ll have a month? Luckily, God has always been on my side and I have had returning clients each month and a constant flow of new clients.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a personal trainer specializing in weight loss, weight management, weight/muscle gain, strength training, and overall fitness. I have transformed and trained over 40 clients, via in person and virtual training. I take pride in fostering real relationships with my clients that in turn shows up in the results they receive from training with me. I love that my clients come from all walks of life and different stages in their fitness journey and I am still able to fit in where they need me. My clients are my family and it shows in the way they show up for me and the way I show up for them. Nothing makes me more happy than my client overcoming obstacles that they once had before training with me and just seeing them gain confidence overall.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My trainer was one of the first people to encourage me to pursue training and as the owner of the gym I currently run my business, It gave me the confidence I needed to make the first move. Outside of taking my CPT course, I learned a lot from watching him train clients in the gym and his training style helped me craft mine. My close friends (some who were even my first clients ) also played a big role into assuring me that this would be a good move for me and that I would be successful in doing so! Not only were they my first clients, they also helped promote my business which in turn brought me new clients and started to build my clientele.
