Conversations with Vi’Dual Futch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vi’Dual Futch

Hi Vi’Dual, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
It’s best to begin where I stand today, but my journey towards this point began long before April 1st, 2024. Life has a way of preparing us for significant shifts, often without us even realizing it. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, though I frequently battled doubts: what if it doesn’t work, or how will it work? These questions plagued me until the day everything changed.

On April 1st, I was laid off from my full-time job. While it was a jarring experience, I was fortunate to have spent the preceding months preparing for this very moment. I had been quietly assembling everything I needed to launch my own business, guided by an intuition that something big was on the horizon.

My journey into the world of DJing and MCing began when I was just a fifth grader. It was then that I met Andre Jones, better known as AJ THE DJ, who took me under his wing. AJ, a giant in the mobile disc jockey and entertainment scene throughout the Southeast, shared his knowledge and wisdom with me. He allowed me to work in his business, giving me a firsthand education in the art and business of entertainment.

One of my most vivid memories from those early days was when AJ provided the sound and lighting for a concert featuring El DeBarge. Even as a child, I had an old soul, and meeting El DeBarge and watching him rehearse live was nothing short of amazing.

My love for entertaining through music has been a part of me since I was a baby. Now, I finally have the opportunity to fully embrace this passion. This is my moment to step into a world that has always felt like home.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you have a purpose, you will be challenged, and you will endure. These challenges strengthen your character. What many see as obstacles, I’ve learned to embrace and face as part of the process. Throughout every phase of my life, I’ve faced challenges. Statistically, I was supposed to be an unproductive citizen, born to two teenage parents. By third grade, I struggled severely with reading and math. Raised in a single-parent home, I dealt with anxiety and ADHD throughout my entire pre-adult life. The list could go on and on. However, every challenge carried a lesson and ultimately strengthened my character and shaped who I want to be in this world.

I live by the saying, “To be early is to be on time, and to be on time is to be late.” Our dedication to superior customer service begins the moment you call, text, or email to inquire about our offerings.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
There is a quote by an unknown author that says, “You don’t know what you are capable of until you put yourself in a position to do something you have never done before.”

If I could add to the concept of “risk-taking,” it would be “calculated risk-taking.” At some point in our lives, we all must take calculated risks. These moments reveal our true power and our ability to stand firm in the face of obstacles while also strengthening our character. Launching my business in Houston is one such calculated risk for me. I’ve had to build a client base from scratch, market the business, and sometimes offer my services for less than what they’re worth. It’s a necessary risk when you’re building something new.

In the end, it’s okay. When you have a goal in mind and are serious about it, risks are inevitable. Some will work out, and others won’t, but each experience teaches a valuable lesson.
