Meet Tyler Tracy of Wellborn Road

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Tracy.

Tyler, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We actually fired this thing up back in 2005 in College Station TX. Our singer Scott Emanis and I have known each other since we grew up in Kingwood TX. I was working for Texas A&M and Scott was in the Navy. I was writing some songs and Scott would come into town on leave and sing on em. We wound up getting together with some friends and started from there. We wrote enough songs to play some shows and we started out playing all around the Houston area.

We put out our first album “Home” in 2008. We continued on the Houston circuit and expanded to other cities around the state of Texas. We put out our second album “Pain Hate Redemption” back in 2014. It sold all over the world and got some decent radio play for the kind of music we play. Recently we release a Five song E.P. called “From Silence to Strength” which we’re super proud of. It’s already sold in places like Australia, Germany, UK, and of course the US and all over Texas.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There’s been some bumps in the road but that goes with anything you do. We’ve had some member changes throughout the years. Also, the music industry is a tricky one due to streaming services and such. They all have their purpose, but it’s not get a label and be a rock star. It’s a lot of work.

We’ve been offered record deals but haven’t found one that works for us. However, we’re happy to be doing what we’re doing.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Wellborn Road – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The band started as more of a really loud Southern Rock band. Through the years we’ve evolved into more of a Texas Metal band. Which is something that we’re really proud of. I’m the Guitar player and probably the main contributor to the writing, although that’s becoming more of a collective thing now. Myself and our manager Rusty handle most of the business side of things. Such as booking shows, merchandising, scheduling, and stuff of the sort.

I’d say I’m most proud that we’re still doing it. Wellborn Road just put out our Third and Best recording to date. Not a lot of bands can say that in the Houston scene or Texas Scene for that matter. We’ve seen a lot of great bands come and go, but I think it’s very cool to say that we’re still flying the flag for Texas Metal and we’re proud to do it with everyone else.

I think our live show along with the songs are what help us to stand out. The songs have big riffs, big vocals, big everything. They’re easily recognizable and they translate well to the stage. Our shows revolve very much around audience participation. Our audience isn’t “fans”. We refer to em as the “Brew Crew”. They’re part of the band. They’re part of the show and experience. We’re there to have a good time with them just as much as they’re there to see us jam.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Right now we’re setting up 2018 to jam everywhere we can on this new album. We can’t wait to play these songs live everywhere we can with all the amazing bands around the state. “From Silence to Strength” was our first recording with our Bass Player Jose Diaz (aka J.D.).

The guy is an incredible musician and bass player. We’ve also added on drums, Phillip Pound out of College Station TX. He’s an absolute monster behind the kit. Incredibly tight and gifted when it comes to the drums and music in general. So we’re going to be excited to hit the road with him and show the Brew Crew what we can do now.
