Today, we’d like to introduce you to Sadia Ahmed.
Sadia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Thank you so much for reaching out. Munaari Events & Entertainment was started in 2019 with the vision to empower women by providing a platform for aspiring models, especially women of different shapes, sizes, colors, and ethnicities.
Slowly, men and kids also joined. It is a pioneer in the South Asian community where sleek, heightened models were only given opportunities in Houston then. Munaari does themed Fashion shows with self-written Hindi poetry imbibed. Munaari is an abbreviation of Mukhtalif Naari, which means a unique woman. I believe that if one has talent and is hardworking, then God will help one excel in any department of this world.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Never ever finding something is easy. Well!! Risking something is a challenge for progression. Handling models from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and mindsets is a hard nut to crack at times, from rehearsal to the D day.
And it definitely is a test of your patience. Another one is selecting a theme, working according to it, and then negotiating with the event organizers and designers. It is difficult, but yeah, all that well that ends well. Despite all odds, we deliver THE BEST THEMED FASHION SHOWS IN HOUSTON, for what we have been recognized many times is a real sigh of relief.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Munaari is an abbreviation for Mukhtalif Naari, which was initially founded to empower women via themed fashion shows. And this is what we are known for.
Photography, event decoration, styling, and design are some of the services already delivered. I am never proud of anything, but I am definitely thankful for all the recognition I received during the journey.
We use self-written Hindi poems with specific themes. Back in 2019, when I founded this, this was the only agency that provided opportunities to all shapes and sizes in the South Asian community. So, you can say we are the pioneers.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Well!! Luck plays a role in any department of the world. We give 99.99% as hard work, but that .01% decides our success or failure. In my case, I have been fortunate by the grace of God. Friends and acquaintances came forward to help. And in just one month of founding it, we had 42 models from different sections. That was commendable.
Then covid came with no control over it, and I conceived in the same year, 2020. Off and on, I continued entertaining the community. Now, after a gap of a few months, I am coming back with an event.
