Today, we’d like to introduce you to Phoenix Malone.
Hi Phoenix, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I started doing content creation back in 2016 because I needed a creative outlet. I had just graduated college and started my first job, and all I was doing at the time was going to work and grad school, and I hated not having a “thing” to do.
In high school, I remember watching some of my favorite video creators on YouTube, like Balloonshop and Dormtainment, and thinking, “I want to do that one day.” So, one day, I just decided that would be my thing, too, as far as how I got to where I am now.
It was and is nothing but consistency. I decided that content creation would be more than a hobby and that I would do everything that I needed to do in order to become who I needed to be to make that happen.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road is NEVER smooth. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I truly believe that adversity and perseverance through that adversity are necessary for growth. In the same way, a muscle in the body cannot become stronger without being broken down first (through exercise). I believe the same is true for our personal growth in anything we do.
I have struggled with thoughts about whether what I was doing would actually go somewhere or if I decided to do the “wrong thing” because I wasn’t seeing anything come from it. But that frame of mind and perpetuating those thoughts was exactly what was holding me back. As long as I was thinking, maybe I shouldn’t be doing this because it isn’t going anywhere. Then, I would perform like someone who shouldn’t be doing it because it isn’t going anywhere.
It wasn’t until I put forth the effort to change the way I thought about things that I started to see the results that I had wanted to see for so long. I changed inside by starting to see myself as successful and confident rather than struggling and unworthy, and the outside followed. Whatever you believe yourself to be is exactly what you will be because your actions follow your thoughts.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I simply create, and I share. I say it generally like that because thats what we all do, we create something whether it be videos, pictures, thoughts, paintings, discussion topics etc and then we share them. I like to create videos, specifically comedy sketches.
The videos that I create have come to be known for being witty or having a surprise turn of events in them. I am most proud of the way that I have allowed my creative side to grow and how I am learning to become more sensitive to the subtle frequency that is creative energy.
It has become easier to make things because I’m learning to allow the inspiration to happen rather than try to force it, and it is an amazing experience. I don’t know what sets me apart because that is never my focus when making something. I only focus on doing the idea justice by perfectly bringing it to fruition. I guess what sets me apart is up to the viewer to decide.
Are any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
There is a video that helped me. It is called the strangest secret in the world by Earl Nightingale on YouTube. The video explains the importance of goals and the dangers of going through life on autopilot.
That video helped me to learn the feeling of setting a real personal goal. There is a book that I was led to after that called The Game of Life and How to Play It. That book explains what life is versus what we learn to see it as.
That book helped me to look at myself and accept/heal the flaws that were holding me back from moving forward.
