Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Jackson
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am the daughter of two military parents, so I have lived all across the world. Majority of my family is in Louisiana, butTexas is my home. I am a mom to my beautiful vibrant daughter, Seven. Yes her name is Seven! Gods number of completion.
I was diagnosed with vitiligo in September of 2019. At first I was nervous, scared and not very confident about it. The experience itself was eye-opening because it taught me self-love, something I always struggled with as a little girl. Even though I was diagnosed as an adult, it definitely still took some getting used to.
I took my talents to social media showcasing my extravagant looks and natural hair while embracing my vitiligo. I was reposted by Winnie Harlow and my journey took off from there.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been one difficult, yet rewarding journey. I was diagnosed with vitiligo at 25 years old. Most are diagnosed in their early ages of childhood. I got the long stares, whispers, getting pointed at in public. In retrospect, I also was approached a lot more hearing, “you are so beautiful, your face is so unique”. I questioned God like why me . I also doubted if I was pretty enough. Honestly, having vitiligo has changed my perception of how I look. I am much more confident and I embrace it!
As a single mom, my goal is to reach not only single mothers with the goal of breaking generational curses, but aLao to reach anyone facing the battle of loving themselves and embracing who they are inside and out.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I consider myself a creative. I started this journey back in 2018, recording myself attempting the latest makeup trends and natural hairstyles as a coping mechanism to get through post partum depression. Little did I know my consistency and personality would attract others around the world to form a community/village amongst social media.
I curate videos based off motherhood, beauty and lifestyle. I do a little comedy, cooking, and travel too.
My motto is “do your thang sis” be the best version of yourself unapologetically. I didn’t want to box myself into makeup or hair tutorials and that stems from the message behind my name. DOSEOFJASS, come experience who I am in all forms of me. You can get a little dose of Jas no matter the situation.
I am truly grateful for my ability to just uplift other men and women. I truly believe if I can leave a positive message and/or experience with just one person in the world to better themselves as an individual I’ve done my part.
I’m proud of the opportunities I have, had and soon to come.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Wow, I would have to say walking to the corner store in New York with my dad to get freeze pops on the weekend. The quality time I could spend with my dad brought nostalgia, good memories and it really made my day to just be around him.
Second to that, I would have to say my joined birthday partys with my two female cousins. We were all born in February and our family would combine our party’s together.
