Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Boudreaux. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Aaron Boudreaux is the youngest child of two loving parents, Aaron and Marcella Boudreaux of Houston, TX.
Being raised in a Christian home, prayer, respect for others, and education were the biggest components of his upbringing. At a young age, Aaron and his two older sisters (Andrea and Angela) were all taught the importance of having a strong foundation and a relationship with the Lord. Seeing as how both his parents were teachers, it was only a matter of time before Aaron was to follow in their footsteps.
Aaron graduated from Lamar High School in 2006 and went on to study business at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Once he graduated in 2010, he remained in Lafayette and became a substitute teacher. It was his very first experience in the classroom, but it would not be his last! Aaron returned to Houston in 2011 and quickly picked up right where he left off and became a full-time classroom teacher.
Aaron has a vision to not only educate kids but inspire them to tap into their full potential. He is committed to helping the youth seize the precious moments that they have as young adults. His greatest desire is for them to become great leaders within their own generation, not to mention be examples for those that will follow afterward.
With the growth of his non-profit mentoring company, Mentoring Mighty Minds, Aaron plans to reach kids all over the city and eventually the country and show them that anything is possible.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It goes without saying the road has been rough. The challenges that young males face on a daily basis are more than enough to make you want to give up.
Not to mention being a Black male and having society put your every action under a microscope. I think everyone has their own set of challenges. It is not our failures that define us, but the resiliency we demonstrate by continuing through the struggles that make us and show the world who we truly are.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
In the classroom, I am that guy!! Plain and simple. I enjoy creating a safe atmosphere where students come to learn and enjoy the process. So often, children feel uncomfortable in the classroom, “I don’t know you, I don’t trust you, so I’m not even going to try to learn.”
I have spent the past 15 years working on how to change that narrative. My door is always open to students who wish to better themselves. Whether they choose to learn about math or social norms. I am looking to pour into them so they can become the best version of themselves. So many times, I receive students who are not on my class roster. They just know that Mr. B is going to help!
At the school where I work now, Momentum High School, in Spring ISD, I was just awarded Teacher of the Year. It was a great honor. The response from the students and staff speaks volumes about the commitment I put into being here for them day after day.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My Father in Heaven, The Lord God Almighty, deserves ALL the credit!
My parents Aaron and Marcella Boudreaux. The many mentors I have had over the years are too many to name, but they all played a special part in my story. I am forever grateful.
