I started my hospitality company in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic after working in restaurant management. Graduating college a year prior, I always knew I wanted to become an entrepreneur in the hospitality industry. I initially started offering services to family and friends, like planning date nights, catering, and baking.
Eventually, my little sister and I started an elegant picnic business after receiving positive feedback from family. This business provided a restaurant experience without the need to go out, perfect for the pandemic. Over the years, our business evolved into Zay’s Signature Creations, offering elegant picnics, catering, private dining events, custom gifts, and an online bakery.
With the support of my sister and networking connections, we have built a strong and successful company focused on true hospitality and excellent service. Through consistency, persistence, and faith, we continue to grow and provide memorable experiences for our clients.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to where I am today has not been smooth, but I have come to realize that true growth and success often come from navigating through challenges and overcoming obstacles. In the ever-changing landscape of the world, industries, and economy, I have faced my fair share of struggles along the way.
One of the biggest challenges I encountered was transitioning in and out of corporate America, where I had to adapt to a different way of working and thinking. I also experienced the loss of both tangible and intangible resources that I once thought were essential for my journey. Moreover, I had to cope with the difficult reality of losing friends and family members who I had hoped would be there to support me on this path.
During these tough times, I often felt the urge to give up and surrender to the hardships I was facing. I grappled with feelings of loneliness and isolation, believing that no one truly understood the challenges I was going through. However, deep down, I knew that I could not let all my sacrifices go to waste. I found the strength to persevere, pick myself up, and push forward with more determination.
Through these struggles, I learned the importance of resilience and perseverance. I realized that setbacks and obstacles are not roadblocks but opportunities for growth and self-improvement. I challenged myself to step out of my comfort zone, be more social, and engage in networking opportunities that allowed me to connect with like-minded individuals who shared similar visions and values.
As I continued to push through the difficulties, I discovered a newfound sense of purpose and drive. I sought out collaborations and partnerships that aligned with my goals and aspirations, building a support system that propelled me forward. I dedicated myself to continuous learning and development, constantly seeking ways to enhance and refine my company’s offerings to provide the best in hospitality services.
Ultimately, I have come to realize that the struggles I faced have not only shaped my company but have also shaped me as an individual, an entrepreneur, and a leader. While the road ahead may not always be smooth, I have learned to embrace the challenges and obstacles that come my way, using them as stepping stones to propel me toward greater success and fulfillment.

We go beyond event collaborations by curating custom gift baskets and bags featuring products from these businesses for our clients. Moreover, we offer resources to assist these businesses in their growth journey, fostering a community of solidarity and empowerment.
Our exceptional vendor team, cultivated over nearly four years, has been instrumental in crafting unforgettable experiences for our clients. Our unwavering dedication to delivering top-tier hospitality and meticulous attention to detail sets us apart within the industry.
As we continue to evolve and broaden our horizons, we remain steadfast in upholding our values and providing unparalleled service to each client. In our latest ventures, our event planning division now offers curated experiences such as the Wellness Boat Excursion, a unique journey featuring a boat ride with live music, hors d’oeuvres, and drinks, culminating in an island experience with sound therapy and meditation. Additionally, our elevated date night services with Dinner on a Boat provide an exclusive experience with live music, a three-course meal prepared by a private chef on the boat, and a dedicated hospitality host.
Furthermore, we have expanded our online bakery to offer wholesale opportunities for coffee shops, bars, and boutique hotels, seeking to infuse a touch of sweetness and luxury with Bookie’s Brookies. In anticipation of our very first brick-and-mortar location in Houston, we are gearing up to bring even more exceptional experiences to our valued clients.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success, in my perspective, is specifically tied to the journey of overcoming failures and obstacles. It is through these challenges that true success is born.
The path to success is paved with determination, unwavering passion, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to one’s goals. It is the ability to rise time and time again after being knocked down by the adversities that come our way. Success is not merely about achieving a goal; it is about the process of navigating through tribulations and emerging stronger on the other side.
For me, real success lies in the willingness to accept and embrace change as a catalyst for personal and professional growth. It involves being adaptable, open-minded, and continuously learning from experiences. Embracing change allows us to evolve, develop new skills, and broaden our perspectives.
