Today we’d like to introduce you to Maranda Evans.
Hi Maranda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My teenage years were filled with abuse, pain, and rebellion. Even though I did well in school and graduated college (Sam Houston State), there was still a sense of emptiness within me. College relationships just brought about more pain. Once I graduated, I decided to do what I’ve always done…write. It was in 2014 I published my first book, Troubled. From there, I created The Troubled Movement, Inc. to help mentor teens, as well as The Purple for Randy Foundation to help domestic violence and sexual abuse victims.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A road worth walking is never smooth. Some struggles I experienced along the way were mostly financial and mental. I didn’t have the funding to support my nonprofit or my businesses, so I went into major debt. Debt that I am still paying 10 years later.
My other main struggle was my mental health. I was doing so many things, I didn’t take care of myself. I lost my grandparents during the time of growing my future and I didn’t properly grieve for years. I deemed myself, “The Black Superwoman,” because I was so busy trying to help others, I was draining myself. Eventually, I got a therapist and psychiatrist after a major breakdown.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Elements of ME, LLC?
I have two businesses, a nonprofit, and a YouTube channel so I am a multifaceted entrepreneur. However, Elements of ME is my umbrella company. I do accounting services, writing and book publishing services, vlogging, podcasting, and motivational speaking. I’m most known for my motivational speaking because it’s something I do on multiple platforms.
What sets me apart from others is my authenticity. While I appreciate soft and empowering motivators, I prefer to take a more aggressive approach. I call myself, “The Unfiltered Motivator.” I’ll give motivation, but I would rather say, “Hey! You! Get up and prosper.” rather than, “I think it’s a good idea that you be positive.” It’s my southern upbringing and grandmother’s originality passed down to me that makes me different. That is what I’m most proud of!
I offer motivational speaking for any type of event, accounting and tax services for businesses (Evans Financial Solutions), and book publishing services (Victorian Publishing).
What’s next?
My biggest plan is to retire as President from my nonprofit, The Troubled Movement. I will be passing the torch along to my dear friend and Vice President, Christian Simmons, after 8 years of service. I’m looking forward to watching, “my baby,” grow from a distance and spread throughout the world. Most importantly, I plan to relax and enjoy my 30’s after spending my 20’s building so many things.
