Today we’d like to introduce you to Chef DeeDee Coleman.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Chef DeeDee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started catering in my hometown and managed a BBQ Soul Food Restaurant. Once I moved to Houston in 2001 I had my first catering event 2 years later. Once I got married and joined my church I was able to get the support I needed to successfully start my catering business part time while working in corporate America.
In 2012, I left my marketing job on corporate America and started my business full time. My Red Velvet Waffle Batter Brand launched in 2013 and I started Cooking with a Twist in 2015. Through all the ups & downs my companies are thriving.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely NOT! I feel with any start up small business there are many obstacles especially when you don’t have a lot of money in the bank and you’re stepping out on pure faith and trust in God.
There are financial obstacles, staffing issues, client issues and just the overall stress of operating a successful business.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cooking With A Twist – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

We provide Hands On, Interactive & Fun Cooking Classes. We are known for our fun & intimate atmosphere where our customers can come and have lots of fun, cook good food and drink their favorite beverage, alcoholic or not while doing it!! I am very proud of the success we have had with the humble beginnings we’ve started from. What sets us apart from any other cooking class is that we offer full course meals that our customers enjoy cooking & of course eating!! Our reviews have been great and we appreciate that!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are currently planning on expanding, opening other locations and becoming a franchise.
