Hello, my name is Lucy Co Founder of Balancing Bookks in Houston,Tx. I was born in Mexico and moved to Houston as a teenager, ready to embrace new opportunities. My journey began when I started working at my family’s restaurant, starting as a hostess and gradually working my way up to an assistant position. It was during this time that I got my first taste of the business side of things. I assisted in paying our vendors and handling payroll, which sparked my interest in finance and bookkeeping. At a young age, I found myself unexpectedly pregnant, and I made the difficult decision to put my professional goals on hold and focus on my personal life. However, my determination to succeed never wavered. After a few years, I decided it was time to pick up where I left off and continue my education. I enrolled in college with a clear aim of pursuing a degree in business. Little did I know that this choice would lead me directly to my true calling. I landed a position at a wholesale supply store, and it was here that I gained most of my experience in the accounting cycle. I dove headfirst into every aspect of financial management, honing my skills and gaining valuable knowledge along the way. It was during this job that I crossed paths with Alex, a kindred spirit who shared my values and aspirations. Together, we recognized the need for financial literacy and education within our community, particularly for small businesses striving to succeed. With a shared vision, we became business partners, determined to make a positive impact. Recently, I made a career move into the sports industry. This transition has been both challenging and rewarding, as it has allowed me to further refine my skills and qualities. My attention to detail has become second nature, ensuring that every financial transaction is meticulously recorded. I take pride in my organizational abilities, streamlining processes to enhance overall efficiency. Hello, my name is Alex Founder & CEO of Balancing Bookks, LLC. I would like to introduce myself and share a bit about my background. I am a highly motivated individual with a strong focus on achieving goals and always dreaming big. Throughout my life, I have been passionate about what I do, starting from a young age. I have always had an entrepreneurial mindset, with a deep desire to contribute to society and help others grow. While managing my own business, I pursued a career in the medical field. I became a paramedic at a young age and eventually became a medical doctor. During my time in medical school, I had the privilege of working as a surgical assistant and a business manager/ bookkeeper for a top surgeon in my hometown. This experience allowed me to develop my business and financial skills, as the surgeon ran his practice as well as other ventures within the industry. After several years, life brought me to the United States, where I no longer practice medicine. However, my natural affinity for numbers and helping people led me to pursue training in Financial coaching, Bookkeeping, Accounting, Tax law and Business management . While working in a plumbing supply office, I met my business partner, Lucy, and realized that many contractors excelled at their craft but struggled on the business side. Drawing on my background in bookkeeping and business management, coupled with my financial coaching expertise, I made it my mission to establish a business that goes beyond traditional bookkeeping services. Our vision is to be an integral part of our clients’ businesses, offering not only bookkeeping but also comprehensive services. Whether you want to learn new strategies or need assistance in executing tasks, we are here to support you. so in general our main focus seats on the finances but we have been able to expand our services where he cover mainly a full umbrella that covers the main concerns of an entrepreneur or business owner small or big and for referrence we consider a small business someone with a gross income of 5 million a year from bookkeeping/ accounting, marketing/ branding and social media management because they go hand in hand but I Mainly try to focus on trying to teach people how to benefit or take advantage of the tools that the irs provides you by owning a business which is you being able to maximize your deductions with most expenses as long as theyre necessary for you to be able to do business, its literally a game that the irs provides you all the game rules free on internet but of course you have to be able to understand and learn how its done. but mainly I tell my customers count us in as one of your partners cause if you grow I grow and basically I just explain to them that regardless of what you do, paying taxes is basically like having a membership to a club which allows you to convey business and ideally reach financial freedom so what i say is if you owe x amount to the irs and other than allowing you to keep having your business theyre not going to do anything for you, so if you count me in as your partner, guess what? my services are 100% deductible on your business expenses and I will help you grow, get structured, free you from wasting more money and time trying to figure out things so its basically like putting the money back to the business by giving us the chance to help out.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning Social media and workflow was a struggle just in the sense that it can be time consuming and it requieres an amount of trial and error on the learning curve to find the ideal flow of things , and as they say nothing worth having comes easy, you have to put in the effort, luckily for us we have been able to find a great dynamic between the 2 of us to balance things out while still keeping our full time jobs, while we get to the point to turn our business into a full time labor, on the day to day practices the main obstacle we encounter is to find the ideal clients and mainly to be able to break peoples mindset to be able to better help them into finding the best way to grow out their business and also for them to understand how to properly take advantage of todays available tools through the technology.
