Laina B @theenomadnurse , a dedicated and passionate NICU nurse veteran of 12 years! With a clinical background in ER as a student nurse extern and 1 year of experience in Surgical Trauma ICU as a registered nurse. Worked all over the states of both Texas and California as a travel nurse for the past 4 years during the height of the pandemic. And coined, executed, and COPYRIGHTED PRN | Per Diem Princess ©️ @theeprnprincess , a joint business venture to promote work life balance and positive affirmation to all nurses!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to nursepreneurship is definitely not easy. We have encountered road blocks in regards to funding our business ourselves monetarily and inconsistency of sales. However, we are now on Amazon and we definitely have more products for nurses to come in the future.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I absolutely love being a NICU nurse of almost 12 years! Being a veteran nurse definitely comes with scrutiny however. I have faced racial discrimination and microaggressions in the healthcare setting. However, I am most proud of my ability to overcome these obstacles and set boundaries in order to prevent said hurdles in the future. I think what sets me apart from others is my dedication to my patients. Despite everything I have been through in nursing, my care for the tiniest patients in the hospital will never fall short of amazing.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think taking risks lies at the heart of nursepreneurship! Without risk, you will never be certain of what your true potential may be!
