Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr Peter Allen
Hi Dr Peter, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my career back in 1997 as a DJ doing several events shows etc.. fast forward to 2005 I felt that something was missing so I decided to enroll in school to study Broadcasting and interned at an FM radio station here in Houston. It was there where I made lasting friendships and several legendary radio personalities took me under their wing and teach me several important skills and lessons. In 2008 I worked at Magic 102.5 in Beaumont TX as part of the Promotions Department. In 2011 I worked at Party 934 I was the Evening Personality. Later that year I was promoted to Music Director. In 2014 I decided to create my own radio station 953 JAMZ and launched in 2015 fast forward to today I am the host of Houston’s First National Syndicated Quiet Storm Love After Dark which is in 20 markets and still growing. In 2018 I received my Proclamation from the City of Houston on April 8 by Mayor Sylvester Turner. April 8 is Peter Allen Day in 2022 I received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joe Biden and in 2023 I received an Honorary Doctorate from Leaders Esteem Christian Bible University.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely had its challenges just like in anything. Wether it’s through tech issues or whatever the case may be but it has taught me to have a lot patience and learn from the process.

953 JAMZ is a Hip Hop R&B and Throwback Radio Station. We are heavily involved in the community and we are a station that li to take pride in not being afraid to push the envelope and take chances in giving new opportunities to others who have always wanted to be in radio. We are Home of Houston’s First 2 hour Throwback Friday Lunch Mix 12-2pm and are home of Houston’s first Syndicated Quiet Storm hosted by The Legendary DJ Pied Piper Monday-Thursdays 7-10pm as well as Home of Kidz Jamz 2 hosted by The Radical Rileys. Kidz Jamz was originated back in the 80’s and we decided to recreate the show to keep the legacy going.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up listening to music and always wanting to create mix tapes for others. I always listened to the Quiet Storm personality and studying the music and delivery of the voice and show.
