Check Out Beyond Circus’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beyond Circus

Hi Beyond, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Inspired by many visits to Clubmed resorts over many years and falling in love with their circus program, we were inspired to open our own training school so people in the Greater Houston Area could experience the same joy that we have. Our goal is to help spread the love of circus to the area and help people of all skills and experience levels realize that anyone is capable of doing amazing things in a safe and friendly environment.

Our head coaches Shallen and Jesse have worked at many circus schools around the world. They coached various circus disciplines including Aerial Silks, Aerial Rope, Flying Trapeze and Hand Balancing.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We experience alot of the people that come to us believe you need to be in great shape, super strong, flexible etc. to do circus. We want to help the community understand that anyone of any fitness level or experience can take our classes and learn and have fun with any of our disciplines. We love our community and can’t wait to see it continue to grow

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are the newest circus school in the Greater Houston Area, we strive to teach people of all ages and skill levels how much fun circus is! We specialize in Aerial Silks, Lyra, Hammock, Hand Balance and the most unique one, Flying Trapeze. We are one of only 3 Flying Trapeze schools in Texas, and want to share the joy of Trapeze with the community. We also have a performance troupe made up of our talented students that perform at various events around the community.

We also offer kids classes to help children discover the joy of circus and help them understand their bodies and awareness while having fun. We offer Ninja classes as well as Intro to Circus where we explore various circus disciplines each week

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Circus can feel challenging at times, for both your body and your mind. Starting out in circus arts can be both exciting and scary, especially when facing your fears. It’s natural to feel nervous about trying something new, but remember that fear is all part of the journey and overcoming it is rewarding. You’ll see noticeable changes in your body when you start taking classes. Circus quickly increases your strength and stamina. It’s the best feeling in the world when one day you revisit a position that you use to struggle with and it’s a piece of cake! Remember, even experienced performers, started where you are now. Celebrate the small victories and embrace the friends and community around you as everyone is on their own journey and supports each other. We love watching each other grow and succeed!
