Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Prince
Hi Ashley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As a small child creativity and business was instilled in by my father, James Prince, serial entrepreneur, music mogul and boxing connoisseur. My degree details a major of Family Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Fashion Merchandising minor in Business Administration at Texas State University which propelled me to start my first business in college, Junky Closet.
As a single mother, I swiftly swept the market of e-commerce and fashion landing a position as a fashion stylist to rappers and music executives. Balancing entrepreneurship with my involvement in my children’s education- I acquired my license in real estate and teaching by 2009. In 2011 I began working abroad teaching and tapping the market of fashion and accessories from the souks in Dubai.
By 2016, I piloted my first curriculum in my home as I had attended homeschool seminars in Atlanta Georgia and felt there was enough experience and conviction to take full charge of my children’s academic and entrepreneurial education.
In 2018, Prince Circle of Legends Academy and Rapalotkids was born. These businesses served as a catalyst to show the world what private education and the arts looked like through a child-centered approach to enlist scholars who wanted their voices heard.
In 2020 the pandemic challenged my business ventures in a way that proved my theory had substance. The first single, Rapalotkidkids Cypher, Featuring Nickelodeon’s That Girl Lay Lay was the first musical composition that my scholars constructed. Within a year, The Rapalotkids Brand went viral on YouTube.
Subsequently the children continued to compose music, secure branding deals and ultimately I wrote my first fiction childrens’ book encasing the backstory: The Adventures of Kale, Moss and Sage available on Amazon for purchase.
The Rapalotkids opened for That Girl Lay Tour In 2021 which was their first public performance, followed by interviews with 97.9 and branding deals with Exotic Pop, Hyde Park, Just Add Water and Fashion Nova. The graduates of PCLA have gone on to pursue their entrepreneurial endeavors in music, film and management.
After a rebranding proposal and time to construct new products. The Rapalot Family has become a pivotal music channel on YouTube promoting positivity and family unity through lyrical talent Rapalotkid Brooklyn, Producer AP (myself), Rapalotkid Rj, Writer Rapalotkid Cash and Model/Actor Rapalotkid Legend aspiring print model.
With the current development of my ventures in business, I have scaled a conglomerate branding myself, AP the Movement, as the mother brand of all my endeavors. I work closely with public figures to launch programs and awareness for family mental health, community education for political awareness and financial literacy in underserved communities.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As all entrepreneurs may be able to relate, financial challenges and learning your business in grace detail proposed challenges in the last 15 years. I am proud to have understood collaboration, education and motivation have been a standard for elevation.
Above all things, it is my faith in God that has my venture afloat.
We’ve been impressed with Rapalotkids LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Digital Media is the newest form of communication and has a narrative for cutting jobs and negatively influencing platforms or people. I specialize in changing the narrative of what the word “influencer” means to our audience.
It’s the fact that we are avid about reaching an audience with positive messages to help them evolve to a level of thinking that their influential reach can be positive.
We are proud to let kids be kids. That many child entertainers have pressure to be something that they do not feel comfortable being and often times do not have the guidance or tools to achieve that notion. We are blessed to have a network of family and community that promote Christian values and in turn denounce environments or content that are not conducive to the spiritual health of children.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I am definitely a risk-taker. Making the decision to homeschool my children was made at the time that I knew it would require me to leave a 9-5 to be financially, spiritually and emotionally available to them.
Each time we construct a new piece of music or content we risk losing followers or brand relevance.
Risk- taking requires a high emotional IQ and approach to faith in what your purpose is. It requires one to see the unseen, to be willing to move in a direction of one’s goals regardless of not meeting a social norm. This can be distressing if the vision is blurred by what others think of you or your brand. Alternatively, this can provide a sense of relief when quality of life is improved by operating in full truth of one’s life mission and passion. In the future, we continue to spread the message of positivity through media and spending time with friends and family.
