Today we’d like to introduce you to Lawrence Anthony
Lawrence, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey as a Real Estate investor began in 2017. I had recently moved back to Houston from the Lake Jackson area and sold my house. The cash out from that had sparked an interest. Upon moving to Houston, I met a guy at my storage where I was keeping some items and saw a him putting bandit signs together. I ask him was he into real estate and he said yes. Long story short after conversating for about 45 minutes, He gave me access to some training material he had. After reviewing the training material, I felt like there was still more to learn. I started watching YouTube videos on flipping houses. One video stuck out to me where the lady said she bought into a system and it accelerated her knowledge. So I shopped around going to different seminars and and came across the Houston’s Real Estate Investors Association. They were based here in Texas, which several of the seminars I went to wasn’t. They focus on 12 ways to buy and sell real estate for any market, which some siminars only had a few ways they were teaching. I bought into the program. There I met my first partner and we worked together for about a year. She was an agent already with five years of experience on that side of real estate at that time. I’m brand new and didn’t have a clue what this really took to be profitable. We had several mentors from there to guide us and we had one mentor that we met outside of that network that coached us through our first fix and flip where we cashed out handsomely. We did 4 deals total together. From there my partner went back to the agent side and with her family opened up one of Houston’s top premiere black owned brokerage. I continued on my quest as an investor as I was still new to investing and still had alot more to learn. From there I started marketing in the small towns surrounding south of Houston. Lake Jackson, Angleton, Bay City and had success in those areas. In 2023 I revamp my business. The Parent company is Lawrence Anthony Investments LLC which I operated up under starting out, and still do as far as doing paperwork and networking. In 2023 we created Cash For Homes HTX for the marketing company for L.A. Investments.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I will tell anyone that this is not an easy business. You have to be versatile and able to where many hats to get your business up and going. There has been times where there wasn’t any leads coming in from the marketing. Operating solo, there wasn’t enough resources to use. I tried to partner with other people that didn’t work out as well as my first one.
