Meet Angela Geyer of HOUSTON

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Geyer

Hi Angela, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I stared my blog and instagram account, @MrsChintzyLovesChintz, a few years ago during COVID. Although I went to law school and passed the bar in the state my husband and I were living at the time, I realized early on that I never wanted to pursue law as a career. I am, at heart, a creative person. My sign to say farewell to the world of law was when I found out I was pregnant a few days before I found out I passed the bar exam. Doctors told me medically it would be very difficult for me to get pregnant on my own, and I already knew I was meant for a more creative field.

While I was VERY pregnant with my second, my husband received a job offer in Houston that we couldn’t pass up. Having a newborn at home, a toddler, and a husband who started his new job in Houston without us there, I trusted him to figure out where we should settle as a family (and FAST)! Needless to say, in a whirlwind move to Houston, I never got to see our house in person before we purchased it.

When COVID hit, I felt the need for a creative outlet more than ever. I started my blog and instagram account, @mrschintyloveschintz, as a creative outlet to inspire others who, like me, may find themselves in a home they might not initially love. Now, my goal in sharing content is to show that any space can be transformed into someplace beautiful. Having a picture perfect home isn’t always possible, especially when you aren’t willing to do renovations in a home you know is not forever. I hope to always show that despite the imperfections in our houses, we can all find ways to make our homes reflect our personalities and become a place we are proud to call our own.

After a few years of focusing on motherhood and my instagram account, I landed a job at an interior design firm in Houston. Concurrently, I enrolled in online classes at Parson’s School of Interior Design to further hone my skills, Today, I’m thrilled to be working at Amy Kummer Interiors in a role I absolutely love!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has definitely not been a smooth one. I have started from scratch in so many ways. Becoming a new content creator while not knowing anything about algorithms, linking, etc. was a true challenge. Somehow I found my groove and created a group of followers that truly appreciate the things I share and my unique style that they resonate with. I never would have thought that creating my instagram account would have brought me so much joy despite the aggravation it often causes. I have interacted with so many amazing individuals, content creators and others. Once I realized I wanted a little more in terms of helping people create a home they love, I applied for a job in interior design out of the blue. This was a big leap of faith because I didn’t think I was qualified for anything. I am beyond appreciative for the opportunities I received because I put myself out there despite crippling fear. and because someone saw my potential The first year in my interior design career was definitely a bit of a learning curve. There was no tutoring or mentoring, it was a go and learn and figure it out kind of situation. But I am grateful for that because I truly did learn a lot despite being terrified.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Today, I am both a content creator for @Mrschintzyloveschintz and an interior designer for a true friend and amazing interior designer, Amy Kummer. I am most proud because I am definitely more of an introvert, and taking risks and putting myself out there for the world is often terrifying. I am grateful for the moments in time I decided to be brave and take chances to fulfill my passions and change career paths despite my age. What sets me apart is that I will never settle until I am happy about where I am. I am always looking to grow, be better, be stronger, and learn as much as I can in whatever I do.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is my family. I want to show them that no matter what you do, do it with all of your heart. I want to show them that you can create a life you love by following your passions, no matter what you have to do to get there. I also want to be an example to my children that you can have it all. You can be a great mother while also having something that fulfills you and brings you joy.
