Exploring Life & Business with Anna Hoang of THE CHIRO HAUS, PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Hoang

Hi Anna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Going through chiropractic college, Jonathan and I (Anna) started our friendship sharing a similar dream to open up our own chiropractic practice one day. After a year of knowing each other, we started dating and eventually graduated chiropractic college. We both got a job and worked at 2 separate chiropractic clinics as associates for 2 years trying to save as much money as we can. As we worked under other chiropractors, we learned a lot about what we did and did not like within in our chiropractic profession.

Jonathan sat me down in our 1-bedroom apartment one day to talk about our goals and he asked, “With the money we saved up, do you want to buy a house or a ring?” I kindly responded, “Let’s open up a business” and without hesitation, Jonathan agreed.

With absolutely zero clue of what the details of running a business would look like or where to even start, we only knew that we wanted make a shift within the chiropractic profession and do something different.

Most chiropractors will only adjust you, call it a day and tell you this is something you will need for the rest of your life. We believe that adjustments can help give you relief and is a great tool. However, what will really allow the body to heal and function optimally is through proper movement and exercise.

We began doing research of the different types of business formations, asking our colleagues who were already in practice on what to do and where to start, reaching out to real estate agents, thinking of names and locations . . .etc.

Eventually, THE CHIRO HAUS, PLLC was born. There isn’t a lick of German in either of us. We just liked the name.

Our next step was to start looking for our ideal location. We had a hard time finding a location in the Heights within our budget that was decent enough so we ventured out to Katy, TX.

We eventually found our dream practice location off of 99 and i10. So we started the leasing process and received our keys March 1, 2024. We started renovating and was finished within 2 weeks with the help of our family and friends. We didn’t hire any designers, painters, contractors because we simply couldn’t afford it at the time. We started seeing patients March 18, 2024 and had our Grand Opening Easter Sunday.

It has been a journey and we are still learning every day. There are so many moving parts to a business and I don’t think I could have done it without my life partner, Jonathan.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We had no idea where to start, zero business experience. We had a very limited budget which is why we did not hire anyone for our renovations and had to learn everything ourselves. With a lot of expensive mistakes, we learned to be very handy.

The idea of us leaving our jobs and not having a steady income terrified us.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Most chiropractors will only adjust you, call it a day and tell you this is something you will need for the rest of your life. We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
People kept telling us to wait to open a business or to buy a house because of inflation due to the repercussions of COVID. Just do the damn thing.
