Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayleen Rodriguez
Hi Jayleen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi, my name is Jayleen Rodriguez, I am the proud owner of 4 Dogs Barkery. As a young entrepreneur from Channelview, Texas, my journey began in 2021 when I was just nine years old. With a heart full of passion for baking and my love for dogs, I decided to create something special.
It all started with a simple idea: to craft natural, healthy treats for dogs while also giving back to local rescues and shelters. My love for baking was sparked when my dad shared a secret recipe with me. From that moment, I fell in love with baking from scratch, decorating, and creating special memories for my family.
What began with just one recipe has grown into a variety of treats for both cats and dogs, each with its own unique benefits. Our menu now offers dog cakes, pup cakes, and much more. We take pride and dedication to every product we make. None of this would have been possible without the support of my incredible family.
My mom and little brother are my baking and business partners. They are always there, lending a hand to ensure that our treats are made with love and care. Sally my chihuaha is our mascot. She loves going to markets for belly rubs. My dad manages my website ensuring that we stay connected with our community and reach more pet lovers.
We participate in local markets and pet adoption events, where we have received an overwhelming amount of support from Zac and Shawn at Pasadena Market and Ms. Kelly from Main Street Trade Days in La Porte. As well as fellow small businesses, and encouragement from our customers. I love meeting new fur babies and have some fur customers who now recognize us. Seeing the joy our treats bring to both pets and their owners is truly rewarding.
The journey has been incredible so far and I am proud of what I have achieved, The support of my family, customers, principal, teachers, small businesses, and collaboration opportunities have all helped me get to where I am today. From balancing being a young entrepreneur, a student in the National Junior Honor Society, GT, and playing the bassoon in my school band, I’m deeply grateful for the support and help from everyone.
My journey has been deeply rooted in my faith, and I am convinced that without God’s guidance, none of my achievements would have been possible. I put my trust in Him and constantly remind myself that my path is on His time.
I take every opportunity to learn and grow from my experiences. I am excited to see what the future holds for 4 Dogs Barkery. Thank you for being a part of our story.
With gratitude,
4 Dogs Barkery
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a young entrepreneur, I have had a few struggles. For example, learning how to manage my money. I have learned so much in my experiences through trial and error. Building and growing a business has been both exhilarating and educational. It has taught me to navigate challenges with a positive mindset and to celebrate each milestone.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart from others is the homemade peanut butter we use in our recipes. We prioritize the health and safety of our furry friends. Our peanut butter is crafted with just one simple ingredient, ensuring that your pets receive nothing but the best. This commitment to quality has not gone unnoticed by our customers, Due to popular demand and feedback, we’ve even decided to offer our homemade peanut butter in jars, allowing pet owners to treat their dogs to the same wholesome goodness that goes into our baked goods. I encourage everyone to research the ingredients in store-bought peanut butter and understand how some ingredients can cause serious risks to our fur friends.
What makes me so proud of my business is giving back to local animal shelters. I want to make a positive impact on local communities. We take it to heart by donating our treats, pupcakes, and supplies to shelters that host adoption events. Thank you to everyone who has adopted or fostered a pet; your compassion makes a difference.
