Life & Work with Yolanda Djom of pearland TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda Djom

Hi Yolanda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a black woman, married, mother, christian who arrived in the US in 1999 with twenty dollars and a lot of faith; at the time, I could not speak or understand any English, but my goal was to learn. I have resided in Boston, MA, for 18 years, where the Brazilian community is enormous, and I work as a cleaner, nanny, and realtor until I become legal to join the University and pursue my dream that today I clearly can call my mission.
Even though my field in Brasil is Lawyer, after work a decade as a nanny where I was expose to a vast diversity between the families ( Racial, religion, financial , education) I become fascinated with the fact that behavior is always an extension of your family beliefs.
My bacharel in Behavior science at Grand Canyon University was focus in family dynamics because must of the families with different background have a very difficult time to raise a child if the parents are not able to blend their ideas, perceptions no only as a couple but also with the culture of where they chose to live.
In order to become a counselour I pursued the Master at Liberty university where I am finalizing my doctored program as a marriage and family counseling.
I Turned my services 100% online after the pandemic when I have a major families breaking down with panic attacks, anxiety and depression between couples and children. I create my first online class named “Strong Families” using the zoom platform having more the 100 women attending daily.
In sum today I work as a therapist using alternative tools as Hopnoterapy, constellations, life coaching and Young Theroies.
I also have 6 differents online courses at hotmart , author of the book inside out and created of the women cruise retreatment named Recharging that happens once per years and ruin ladies for all over the world.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My biggest obstacle was not being able to exchange my student visa after I got married in 2002, which delayed my legal process for ten years.
I completed the English program for a whole year after I arrived because this was my main goal when I decided to come to the US, believing that I would have better opportunities in Brazil after I returned.
I moved to Texas in 2018 following my husband’s work transfer. I was still practicing in person and had to start from scratch because I did not know anyone in Houston.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Psychotherapist specializing in family dynamics, couples therapy, pre-marriage counseling, mediation, and blended families.
I also mentor, teach classes online, and am a motivational speaker, author, and entrepreneur.

What’s next?
I want to create a program for couples that would help them individually and as a partner to develop Self-accountability, healing of the inner child, self-knowledge, Self-love, Self- care ( Body, Mind, and Soul), and high performance, along with financial support.
