Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Cabrera
Hi Kimberly , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career working as a server and hostess at Los Cucos, which taught me a lot about customer service, multitasking, and the importance of creating a positive experience for others. I enjoyed interacting with people and realized that I wanted to do something that involved helping others in a meaningful way.
After some time, I decided to pursue a new challenge and got my real estate license. Becoming a realtor allowed me to combine my love for working with people with the excitement of helping them find the perfect home. I quickly found that I had a passion for real estate and a knack for understanding my clients’ needs.
While working as a realtor, I also pursued my education and earned a degree in public health from the University of Houston. This gave me a deeper understanding of how our environments impact our well-being, which has been incredibly valuable in my real estate career. I’m now able to look at properties not just as homes, but as spaces that can contribute to a healthier and more fulfilling life for my clients.
This journey has been rewarding, and I’m grateful for the experiences that have shaped me into the professional I am today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first started as a server and hostess at Los Cucos, it was tough balancing the demands of the job with figuring out what I wanted to do long-term. The restaurant industry is fast-paced and can be stressful, but it taught me resilience and the importance of staying calm under pressure.
Transitioning into real estate came with its own set of challenges. Getting my license was just the beginning—building a client base, learning the ins and outs of the market, and establishing myself in a competitive field took time and a lot of hard work. There were moments of self-doubt, especially when deals fell through or the market was slow. It was a steep learning curve, but I kept pushing forward, knowing that every experience was a step toward my goals.
While working as a realtor, I decided to go back to school and finish my public health degree at the University of Houston. Balancing my studies with a full-time career was incredibly challenging. There were many late nights and moments when I felt overwhelmed. But I was determined to see it through because I knew that my education would not only broaden my horizons but also enhance my ability to serve my clients in real estate.
These struggles have made me stronger and more adaptable. They’ve taught me the value of perseverance and the importance of staying focused on my goals, even when the path isn’t easy. Each challenge has been a lesson that’s helped me grow both personally and professionally.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The quality I feel is most important to my success in real estate is **empathy**. Understanding my clients’ needs, concerns, and dreams is at the heart of everything I do. Real estate is more than just transactions; it’s about helping people find a place where they can build their lives, create memories, and feel truly at home.
Empathy allows me to connect with my clients on a deeper level, ensuring that I’m not just meeting their expectations but exceeding them. It helps me anticipate challenges they might face, provide solutions that truly work for them, and offer support when decisions feel overwhelming. By putting myself in their shoes, I can better guide them through the process with care and understanding.
This quality, combined with strong market knowledge and negotiation skills, has been a key factor in building trust and long-lasting relationships with my clients, leading to my continued success in real estate.
