Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Cymone.
Hi Chelsea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Cymone, and I’m a 32-year-old content creator and entrepreneur from Houston, Texas. My background is rooted in music—I am a singer, songwriter, vocal producer, and arranger. I’ve had the honor of being a Grammy-nominated singer, contributing to a Grammy-nominated gospel album. I am also a proud graduate of the prestigious Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA).
Music has been a part of my life since I was five years old, and I made it my profession at the age of 21. Over the past 11 years, I have toured professionally as a background singer and performed with corporate bands across the world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I pivoted into the content creator and influencer space consistently in February of this year. I’ve always been passionate about beauty and fashion, and creating content truly saved my life. After going through seasonal depression for about a year, I made a promise to myself at the beginning of 2024 to show up differently for myself. This commitment transformed my mentality and positively impacted every aspect of my life.
This journey has not been a smooth one, but it has been a purposeful one. I feel like I am exactly where I’m supposed to be, doing exactly what I’m meant to do—helping others learn to love themselves and show up for themselves through fashion and beauty. This is definitely my calling.
I’ve struggled with depression, anxiety, overthinking, and comparison, but these challenges have only strengthened my resolve to support others on their own paths to self-love and confidence.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In addition to my music career, I am also an entrepreneur. I recently launched a new business called Lumière Beauty. Lumière Beauty is more than just a beauty brand; it’s a movement that emphasizes the importance of self-love in the journey to discovering one’s beauty. Our mission is to encourage individuals to embrace their natural beauty and celebrate their uniqueness. Our first collection features three exciting essentials: eyelashes, DIY cluster kits, and a beauty light.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t necessarily believe in luck; instead, I believe that success is the result of preparation, hard work, and the ability to seize opportunities when they arise. While chance may influence certain outcomes, it is our actions and decisions that ultimately shape our paths. Success isn’t something that simply falls into our laps—it’s something we build through dedication, perseverance, and a readiness to act when the moment presents itself.
I also believe deeply in faith as a powerful guiding force in life. Faith transcends uncertainty, providing us with a sense of hope and purpose, even when the future is unclear. It encourages us to trust in ourselves and in the journey ahead, no matter how challenging or unpredictable it may be. While we may not always see the full picture, faith allows us to move forward with confidence, knowing that every step we take is part of a greater plan.
Together, these beliefs form the foundation of my approach to life. I trust that through hard work, preparation, and a deep sense of faith, we can navigate any obstacles, embrace the opportunities before us, and fulfill our true potential.
