Rising Stars: Meet Daisy Martinez of Woodlands, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daisy Martinez

Hi Daisy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
DAISY MARTINEZ, RN – Entrepreneur
Co – Owner of IVida Hydration & Wellness
Owner of Allure Concierge Recovery Care

I am a first generation Mexican American Latina. I witnessed firsthand how hard my parents worked and how much they sacrificed for our family. I am one of 5 siblings and had a very humble upbringing. I’ve strived to make my parents proud.

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a nurse. I am a loving, caring, and empathetic person. I love helping people so when it was time to choose a career, nursing was my first choice. I also saw a need to advocate for our Spanish speaking community and I wanted to be part of that. I wanted to care and advocate for them as I would for my own family.

I have been a nurse for 14 years. My current specialty is Wellness and Aesthetics. Previously I worked in inpatient and outpatient settings. My background includes peri and intraoperative nursing, plastic surgery medicine, medical surgical medicine, and ambulatory care.

In 2021, my sister in law (who is also a nurse) and I were talking about work and sharing our experiences. Neither one of us felt fulfilled in our careers at the time. We both knew we were capable of more. We decided to take courses and educate ourselves in the IV hydration business and took a leap of faith. We opened the doors to IVida Hydration and Wellness in 2022. It was a side hustle at first but it quickly became a full time gig for me. We have now added more services to our practice and recently opened up a studio location in north Houston.

Recently I have started a new business venture “Allure Concierge Recovery Care”. With my background in the plastic surgery field, many requests came in from patients seeking my expertise and assistance. Allure is a company that offers private duty nursing care for patients recovering from cosmetic elective procedures.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There most definitely have been struggles, but I learned how to navigate the hard times at a young age. I became a mother at the age of 15 and I remember having to take my son to high school with me. He was one of my biggest blessings and motivation to keep pursuing my education.

I had a college counselor tell me once to choose a different career path because only really smart people get into the nursing program and that I should consider an alternate career. It was a very discouraging moment at the time. I decided I would become a medical assistant first since it seemed more attainable. I worked as a medical assistant for two years, but I was not satisfied with my career so decided to go back to school and become an LVN (license vocational nurse). I was an LVN for four years and simultaneously attended school on nights and weekends to finally become a Registered Nurse. I took the long route but I was determined to fulfill my original goal of becoming an RN.

I want people to read my story and know that anything is possible as long as you believe in yourself, give it your all, and work hard.

Being a first time business owner does come with its struggles. My business partner and I had to build the business from the ground up. From choosing a name, starting our LLC, opening our bank accounts, finding a medical director, healthcare and business attorneys, building a website, being our own accountants, social media managers etc. They don’t teach you business in nursing school so this was definitely a challenge for us both. However, we did not give up and have persevered.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I am most proud of my resilience, determination, and strong work ethic. I never give up and take no for an answer. I’m also incredibly proud of the success of being a business owner. It’s not for the weak.

Being a Latina/women-owned business, bilingual, and the passion and love for what I do is what sets me apart. I genuinely love helping others. I treat all my clients like family. I not only perform a service but also get to know and build a relationship with my clients. Their wellbeing is very important to me. I love to see their smiles when they reach their weight loss goals, love their Botox results, or are feeling better after their infusions.

What makes you happy?
Having a relationship with God. My family is also an immense source of happiness: my husband, two children Angel & Allison, and my love for my grandson, Anthony.
