Hi Erica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m currently a senior in highschool at a career and technical high school where i am studying to recieve my cosmetology license at the same time that I’m graduating. For me I’ve always loved the nail side of cosmetology and it’s always been something I’m good at doing. I wouldn’t say it’s a job at the moment but it is a hobby I love doing and getting more educated on. I started my press on business in hopes of saving enough in the next 3 years to pay for my tuition to go to the university of downtown Houston and study to become a marriage and family counselor. My dreams are limitless and each day I’m given by the grace of God to try my hardest and make someone else’s life better. Although I aspire to be a marriage and family counselor one day I still love doing nails and making women feel more confident and beautiful through their hands. Nails have always been an outlet for me to relieve stress and put my all into making someone else feel more beautiful by accessorizing with my handmade customizable nails. I spend my own money, time, and love making these nails and supporting my business. Although I am small and just starting I vow to never give up in hopes that my small hobby will one day fund my dreams and future doing what I love.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There will always be bumps and rain along the way but you have to have faith. It is discouraging on days and months when you get no orders or little to no likes but everyone starts somewhere. When you plant a seed it takes time to grow and you can’t give up on it. You have to keep watering it and giving it sunshine and love. So although I do have obstacles to get over as my business grows I have faith that God will take me far.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My mother will always deserve credit for all my adventures she always encourages me to do what I love and not to give up. She drives me to the nail supply stores and helps me order my supplies and decide on my logos. God also deserves all the credit, he gives me each breath I take and puts every opportunity infront of me, he is my shepherd and he’s leading me to success. I also want to include my boyfriend in this because he’s always been a cheerleader in doing what I love and he was my very first customer and he bought me my business cards to show his support for me and I’ll always be grateful.
