Rising Stars: Meet Kouture Chambers of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kouture Chambers

Hi Kouture , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I really started with the app Phonto. While attending Bethune-Cookman University, I became PR for my modeling troupe, now Epicurean Modeling Experience, Inc. o would make flyers and my love for details, I suppose, made me good at it lol.

But the real turnover came during COVID. I started taking classes and really studying design more. I started offering services and my mentor told me I was charging too low for my work. At that moment, the game changed. I began teaching marketing and really investing in myself.

And nothings changed only now that I really loveeeee BRANDING just as much as designing. I enjoy helping brands and establishments find their genuine footing with their brand voice. As a creative, I’m most fulfilled when my clients feel seen and heard.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Ha! Nothing worth having comes easy, right?!

My biggest struggle has always been the fear of charging what I truly deserve. Especially when you see designers who may be more advanced. But then there are those clients who don’t even flinch at your pricing or peers who tell you, ‘You’re charging too low,’ and it confirms what you’ve known all along—you’re worth what you deserve. It’s always been me vs. me.

The real creative struggle? It’s about staying diverse. People always push for a niche, and for the longest, I was so determined not to conform. It felt overhyped. But once I realized what truly drew me in, everything clicked. And because I struggled with defining that, I struggled with attracting my dream clients.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I empower modern brands to define and elevate their identity through sleek, minimal, and impactful designs. Specializing in brand identity development, I create cohesive, elegant solutions—from creative naming to minimal logos and comprehensive brand guides—that ensure every brand I work with stands out with clarity and sophistication. My approach is fluid and meticulous, offering simplicity without compromising on premium quality.

I’m most proud of really knowing my niche makes my heart scream. While I know I said it was overhyped, I totally get the essence of it.

What sets me apart as a graphic designer is my ability to blend a unique combination of creativity, personal experience, and deep cultural connections. Born and raised in Brooklyn, I’ve carried that city’s vibrancy with me as I’ve lived and studied in Virginia, Florida, and even the Dominican Republic. This diverse background has given me a unique perspective that influences my design work.

My time at Bethune-Cookman University as a Mass Communications major laid the foundation for my strong marketing and networking skills, which I continue to cultivate through events like ‘Think With Her’ and ‘A Sister’s Keeper.’ I don’t just design—I create meaningful, cohesive brands that connect with their audiences.

Having worked in major retail brands like Nike, Sephora, and Ulta, I’ve learned firsthand what it takes to build a premium, trustworthy brand that people gravitate toward. My work isn’t just about creating something that looks good—it’s about delivering a top-tier experience that elevates my clients’ businesses.

I also pride myself on being versatile, able to enhance brands across industries without sacrificing quality or consistency. I’ve helped new businesses launch with a strong identity and existing businesses refine their brands, all while maintaining a personal, high-touch approach. I’m passionate about delivering results that reflect trust, innovation, and luxury, while making my clients feel like family.

It’s that blend of creativity, marketing expertise, and dedication to building meaningful connections that sets me apart.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
How you feel and though feelings change, when we are feeling…it’s never a lie.

Success, for me, is about impact, connection, and growth. It’s seeing my designs elevate businesses, helping them thrive while building meaningful relationships.

Success means creating spaces for collaboration, where clients feel valued and my work makes a real difference. It’s about staying versatile, embracing creativity, and delivering top-tier service, all while staying true to my values and doing what I love on my own terms.

Success is subjective, of course so let me add. My new goal to add to success is working with high-end professionals, my favorite celebrities and honestly…the compensation that continues to let me love what I do.
