Thank you for the opportunity to share my journey. My entrepreneurial story is deeply personal and driven by my own health challenges. A few years ago, I faced significant health issues that resulted in food allergies and sensitivities, particularly to dairy. As a lifelong lover of dairy products, this was a profound change for me.
Determined to find a way to enjoy dairy again, I embarked on a journey of research and experimentation. With my background as a Food Safety Scientist and over 15 years of experience in research and development, commercialization, and manufacturing, I delved into Ayurvedic principles of dairy processing. Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of medicine, offered insights into how dairy could be consumed in a way that was easier on the stomach and more nourishing for the body.
After months of R&D, I created a version of ice cream that not only tasted incredible but also did not aggravate my dairy sensitivities. This was the birth of Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream. We use mawa, Indian milk solids, and cook it with milk for an extended period, resulting in a creamy, luxurious texture with a unique flavor profile. This process also helps in reducing lactose intolerance concerns.
Driven by a passion for sharing this discovery, I launched Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream with the vision of bringing globally-inspired flavors to the market, all while adhering to sustainable practices. Our ice cream is not just a treat but an experience that transports ice cream lovers to different parts of the world with every scoop!
Our journey has seen significant milestones, including expansions into major retailers like Whole Foods, Kroger, and HEB. We’ve seen incredible growth and positive feedback from consumers who appreciate our commitment to quality, sustainability, and cultural celebration.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey of building Gallivant Mawa Ice Cream has been challenging, yet it has been incredibly rewarding. One of the initial struggles was my personal health challenge, which led me to explore and develop a product that I could enjoy without adverse effects. This personal battle turned into a broader mission, but it was a tough journey, all while trying to heal and manage my own health.
Funding has also been a consistent challenge. As an emerging CPG brand, raising capital has been a hurdle, particularly in a market where traditional ice cream dominates. Convincing investors of the potential in our niche, yet innovative approach requires much persistence!
Additionally, entering major retail markets like Whole Foods, Kroger, and HEB came with its own set of challenges. Each retailer has stringent requirements and processes, and meeting their standards while ensuring product consistency and availability has been a learning curve. Not to mention, the logistical challenges of managing a perishable product like ice cream, from maintaining the cold chain to dealing with distribution issues, have been considerable.
Despite these struggles, each challenge has been an opportunity for growth and learning. The hurdles have taught me the importance of resilience, adaptability, and the power of a passionate team. These experiences have shaped the brand and strengthened our commitment to delivering a unique and high-quality product that brings joy and cultural richness to our customers.

We specialize in creating ice creams that are infused with Ayurvedic principles and global flavors. Our ice creams are made with mawa Indian milk solids, which we slow-cook to perfection. This gives it a rich, creamy texture that’s really special and different from anything else out there.
