Daily Inspiration: Meet Kendra Eustache

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra Eustache

Hi Kendra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Everything that I am has started with my love for cooking. It has always brought our family together and kept us close around the table growing up in Haiti. So it only made sense for me to have found my passion through food and using my hands.

After culinary school I worked at a couple restaurants and culinary companies in Ohio and loved every minute of it. Some years later moved to Houston for a change and to be closer to family. I needed to reinvent myself because this was all in the middle of the pandemic and establishments were closed. So after some time and making connections I started building my clientele and became a private chef. I have been blessed with some amazing clients and opportunities.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has been rough! When I first moved to Houston, I had no friends or connections so it took a long time to build my clientele. You really need word of mouth to help people trust in your business or just that one person to give you a chance.
I also had to learn how to be my own boss and work for myself.
But honestly it hasn’t been all rough. The good has always outweighed the rough times.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a private chef. I have no speciality dish however I get to show my creative side by making new dishes everyday for my clients.
I’m proud of the way my mind gets excited when I walk into a grocery store or farmer’s market. I believe that’s what truly sets me apart. Everyday is a new day and an opportunity to create something I haven’t made before. It keeps life exciting and pushes my limits and mind.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe when you bet on yourself, you’re taking the biggest risk. Following your dreams and executing them takes great faith and discipline. Walking through new clients doors is a big risk and sign of really trusting in your abilities.
