Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Mason
Hi Lauren, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m originally from Maryland & I first started to do makeup when I was a young girl, and I stuck with it until I got to college. That’s when I started to practice on friends and family. 2020 is when I decided to get a suite and taking clients in my own place of business! I then decided to move to Houston, TX and continue my makeup journey!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been an easy road. I think when I first started out I was super passionate and determined to get to a certain level and now that I surpass that level, I deal with imposter syndrome a lot and just keeping my spirits high when going through different situations within business. Some of the struggles I’ve dealt with is time management and over working myself, also making sure I have the proper tools in place to make my business have a flow.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a professional makeup artist. I’ve been doing this for over seven years now and I specialize in soft gams, which is the trend right now as far as make up wise. I’ve done a lot of weddings, photo, shoots and more. I am proud of the clientele base that I’ve built over the years and as well as my online community. I believe what sets me apart from other makeup artist or beauty stylist is my connection with my customers and how I prioritize customer service above all. I think because I handle my clients with the upmost care, that’s the reason why I continuously have people in my chair.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes, I’ve definitely learned that you have to pivot when necessary. It’s important to have different pathways to collect income whether your offering services online or in person you have to think outside of the box in order to keep up with the times.
