Check Out Mow Rahman’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mow Rahman

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been passionate about writing, books, fashion, food, and culture. Growing up in a Bengali household, being immersed in diverse cultural experiences was highly encouraged. That’s where the spark for ‘what do I want to do when I grow up?’ first ignited. I consider myself fortunate to have discovered my passion early on, thanks to mentors who encouraged me to dream beyond the typical career paths of doctor, lawyer, or engineer. I started my journey in PR and advertising, then transitioned into marketing. Along the way, I thought, why not blend my love for social events, fashion, and culture into a blog and Instagram profile? To this day, it doesn’t feel like work—it’s a love letter to my passions, which has organically turned into a fulfilling career.

The Bengali Belle is the marriage of my hyphenated identity—Bengali-Texan—and serves as my creative outlet for what I love most: style and fashion. I also share glimpses of my lifestyle, from attending events in Houston and supporting charities like Dress for Success, to embracing my passion for travel and, of course, food—a love that comes naturally as the daughter of a chef.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Now that’s a loaded question and I love to go clay shooting! don’t think I would have developed the resilience, ambition, and passion I have today without the challenges I faced. Coming from a modest background, I’ve had to work for everything I have. As a daughter of immigrants—and an immigrant myself—I know firsthand that nothing is handed to you. My parents came to this country to give me a better life and education, and it would feel like a waste if I didn’t honor that by striving for success. I once worked a remote job where I cried every day because of the toxic environment, but it’s always those experiences that help shape you as cheesy as it sounds.

You have to take the limes life gives you and turn them into key lime pie—with a skinny margarita on the side.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As the Marketing Director for a global provider of specialty chemicals, gases, and material technologies, I wear many hats and strongly believe that a successful marketing professional collaborates across multiple teams and departments to ensure the right message is conveyed. While I’m ambitious and often take on tasks myself, over the years I’ve learned the importance of asking for help and working collaboratively to achieve the best results.

I’m proud of having accomplished many of my career goals and building relationships with incredible mentors and colleagues along the way. What sets me apart is my ability to make things happen and my diverse background. It allows me to bring a unique, creative approach to marketing. Having started my career in PR and advertising, I’ve honed my skills in storytelling, which is reflected in the way I connect companies to their audience. No matter the challenge, I always find a solution.

One key area where I see many marketers fall short is neglecting collaboration with sales and technical teams. For me, working closely with these teams is vital to crafting the perfect message and ensuring we’re reaching the right target market.

This approach has been instrumental in my success because if you’re in marketing, PR, or communications, understanding people is more important than simply mastering the fundamentals of strategy.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always busy, staying involved in different organizations and charity work, which I started at the age of 12. I spent a lot of time with friends and family, but I was also a bit of a nerd—I loved being surrounded by books. Learning fascinated me, and I was fortunate to have some wonderful teachers who really expanded my thinking, something that still influences me today.

Along with my love for books, I’ve always had a passion for fashion. I would read magazines and make scrapbooks of different looks, something that sparked my creativity early on. While I wasn’t as confident as I am today, I was always friendly, curious, and constantly exploring new ideas. You could often find me spending hours in the library, which is still one of my favorite places to visit, even when I travel.
