Today we’d like to introduce you to Nakiyah Santos Nunez
Hi Nakiyah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m what you call a serial entrepreneur. I have multiple businesses based in NYC . 2 daycares and a real estate business with my husband . My family and i moved to Houston in July of 2023 . I’ve always enjoyed cooking and entertaining people throughout my life . I’ve been cooking and playing around in the kitchen since about 6 years old . In my early 30s is where I really engaged and focused on cooking food from different cultures . During Covid, when everything was shut down in nyc my family and I binged watched a few food truck cooking shows . That’s initially where the idea came up . I said I think i should open a food truck when we move to Texas .We played around With food truck names , but I knew it was not the time to really focus on it . Once I moved , and felt it was the right time I started doing my research and began the process . So in 2024 Tasteful Flavorzs LLC was birthed.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The process from the start was not so bad. Because of my experience with creating business I was able to acquire all my corporations, get it registered and all business information on my own. Once it came to purchasing the truck and getting licensing for that I decided to choose a builder that custom built everything. Which made it easier . I’ found a-food truck mentor in the process that has been extremely helpful with assisting me in. Navigating all things in the food truck business. Misti B she’s the best Aside from that picking a location has been one of my struggles , location is key. However I’m mobile so I can move around.
As you know, we’re big fans of Tasteful Flavorzs LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a family owned black business.
Tasteful Flavorzs LLC. We are located in Houston, Katy Texas . We specialize in southern , Thai and American cuisine. We cater , we provide services for school events, corp events ,community events , weddings , parties and more . We are well know for our specialties, slap your mama Thai wings and salmon tacos. We have a special sauce that we branded . We are most proud of our Flavorzs that we bring to the street that will keep customers coming back .
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
When you’re an entrepreneur, the initial start is always a risk . Because you go into it blind sided, not really knowing the full potential and outcome . However as for me , I am a strong believer in Faith and God. So there is always a sense of yes I can do it , God has given me these gifts and tools for his Glory so I will follow through .
