Exploring Life & Business with Ande Hampton of GREEN PASTURES THERAPY AND COUNSELING PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ande Hampton

Hi Ande, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
An important part of my professional career was dedicated to teaching upper elementary students, New Teacher Development, Family and Community Engagement, and Leadership Development in Houston’s Independent School District. In my years of teaching, I earned 2 Teacher of the Year awards during my 4 years of teaching. Through the hard work and dedication to students, I was selected to travel nationwide with University of Houston’s program Consistency Management and Cooperative Discipline to create tailored courses and programs as well as train educators on working with inner city students in order to provide the best possible learning environment within the classroom walls. From there, my career moved to a new school district, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, where I served as a School Counselor for 7 years. Although my skill set allowed me to incite real change in the way that teaching and counseling services are offered throughout the local school system, I always felt motivated to create these sorts of outcomes for individuals through personalized counseling and therapy. Currently, I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist in my own private practice, Green Pastures Therapy and Counseling, PLLC. Currently I provide various types of therapy (Trauma, EMDR, DBT, etc.) for clients coping with mental health diagnosis and life issues.

Over the years, I have also worked as a volunteer for many charitable organizations. On of my proudest accomplishments is the nonprofit organization that I helped to develop, Hamp’s Camp, Inc, The organization was initially developed by my husband, Rodney Hampton. We worked together to create an afterschool program for kids where after school services have been provided for numerous schools in HISD since 2010.

As the loving wife to a former professional athlete and the mother to three beautiful children (Rani, Rodney, Jr., and Rylee), I am dedicated to providing love and support to my family and community. Some of the things I enjoy when I’m not working are traveling, spending time with family, and helping others become their best selves!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall, my career has been smooth. I have always been a person that enjoys the experience rather than focusing on a specific plan for my life. That mindset has been positive for me because I feel that I have always landed positions in my career that were meant to be. The prayers for my life have always been for God to order my steps and for him to direct me to the place I need to be when it comes to service. I’ve met awesome people along the way that have also been instrumental in my career moves and professional growth.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about GREEN PASTURES THERAPY AND COUNSELING PLLC?
Author Helen Keller once stated, “Only through experience of trials and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired and success achieved.” I am passionate about helping individuals improve the way that they feel and take back total control of their lives. I’m able to offer you a safe space (online or in-person) to help you work through the difficult feelings and develop the necessary skills to improve your life. In all, I have a HUGE heart for people and value building connections that will ultimately lead to emotional growth.

My theoretical approaches include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (DBT – prioritizing acceptance and emotional regulation), Humanistic Therapy with a person-centered approach, Solution-Focused Therapy, Play/Sand Tray Therapy for children, and EMDR for trauma. I specialize in helping clients of all ages that experience depression, anxiety, grief and trauma related difficulties.

My keen ability to listen, understand, and communicate without judgement lends to creating transformational relationships with clients. My fervor for helping people is supported by an extensive academic background in Psychology and Counseling. I’d love to help you jump start and cultivate your healing process today. Let’s turn your struggle into success!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success for me is defined by one question, “how well am I serving others?“. Most times, individuals measure success by revenue, visibility, and other material items that indicate financial success. For me, the drive has always been helping other people become their best selves. I’ve learned over the years that when I’m able to make a difference in other people’s lives, it only enhances my own.
