Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Paul
Hi Sophia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My professional journey as an artist and brighter begin at a young age, around nine years old. Growing up, I was inspired by my immigrant parents who worked tirelessly to provide for me and my siblings, despite facing numerous challenges. I started by doing my own hair and then begin braiding my siblings hair to improve my skills. I developed a deep passion for creativity involved in breeding and the endless design possibilities. At school I also enjoyed doing my friend Hair, which further fueled my love for craft and beauty it brings. My mother kindly allowed me to use a space in her kitchen to begin offering breeding services to pay client. Overtime my reputation for detailed braids and meticulous work group. In 2017 I decided to pursue my passion further and earn my cosmetology license. I created a social media platform and I spent the next five years building my brand and cultivating a loyal clientele. By 2021 I achieve my dream of opening a small salon. I’ve had the opportunity to showcase my work and had the opportunity to make women and men of all culture smile overtime I’ve honed my skills in creative designs, which has allowed me to develop a unique style.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
While being a braider has been a fulfilling career, it hasn’t been without it challenges. One significant obstacle I faced was initially struggling with difficult clients and mastering my techniques. To overcome this, I invested time for progress and practice. I learned to understand how clients feel and what they need. Another challenge was building a client base in a competitive market. I tackled this by offering exceptional service and leveraging social media to showcase my work. These experiences have helped me develop resilience and adaptability, and have ultimately contributed to my growth and success in the field.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a breeder, I’ve built a reputation for my intricate and personalized braiding techniques. My career has includes working with a diverse clientele from every day individuals to those preparing for special events. I take pride in creating custom designs that reflect each clients personality, and preferences. One of my proudest achievements was relocating from Boston to Houston and in just six months I was recognized on the shade room, which was a significant milestone in my career. What distinguishes my Unique personality, My attentive Client service, and my meticulous attention to details. I take great pride in Delivering a sense of Luxury to all my clients Regardless of the setting.
What makes you happy?
Spending time enjoying moments with my family building memories. Reaching personal or professional milestones and seeing the results of the fruit of my labor and hard work. I love gaining new skills, knowledge and experiencing personal growth. Lastly, making a positive impact and others life through acts of kindness makes me happy.
