Hello! My name is Kinuka Canoy, and I’m the owner of LushBrows by Kinuka. My journey into the world of Permanent Makeup (PMU) began with a desire for convenience in beauty. As a busy mom of two boys and a classically trained flutist, I realized how much time I spent getting ready each day and how I longed for a solution that would simplify my routine. This sparked my passion for PMU, as I saw how beautifully shaped brows could enhance one’s appearance with minimal daily effort.
Determined to help other women feel confident and beautiful, I immersed myself in extensive training and became a 5-time certified PMU artist, specializing in various techniques, including Combo, Ombre, Powder, and Nano brows. I opened my studio, LushBrows by Kinuka, in The Woodlands, TX, in 2023, focusing on delivering natural, stunning results that empower women.
Transitioning to a new area has presented unique challenges, such as building a clientele from scratch and showcasing my skills in a competitive market. However, I take pride in creating a warm and welcoming environment where clients feel at ease and excited about their transformation. My mission is to enhance my clients’ natural beauty while allowing them to save time on their daily routines.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth. Transitioning to The Woodlands, TX, brought new challenges, primarily building a clientele from the ground up. With limited connections in the area, I had to work hard to establish my reputation and showcase my skills. This required significant effort in networking and marketing, which can be daunting when you’re new to a community.
Additionally, balancing my business with family responsibilities has been demanding. There were days when I felt overwhelmed by the need to manage both effectively. Each challenge taught me valuable lessons in resilience and time management, shaping me into a more skilled entrepreneur.
Despite these struggles, they’ve made my successes even sweeter. I’ve developed a strong sense of community and trust among my clients, and I’ve seen the fruits of my labor as my business grows. Each obstacle I faced has only deepened my passion for PMU and strengthened my commitment to providing exceptional service.

What I cherish most are the strong relationships I’ve built with my clients. Many come back for touch-ups or refer their friends and family, which means a lot to me. I also provide correction services for work done by other artists, helping clients achieve the look they’ve always wanted. Seeing a client’s renewed confidence after their appointment is the best part of my job!
What sets me apart is my commitment to providing a personalized and comfortable experience. I use top-quality numbing agents and pigments to make the process as enjoyable as possible. I love listening to my clients, understanding their needs, and creating looks that enhance their natural beauty. Plus, I offer thorough aftercare guidance to ensure the results last.
I truly believe that beauty should be effortless, and my mission is to help every woman feel confident and beautiful without the hassle of daily makeup. This philosophy inspires me every day!
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about the Houston area, including The Woodlands, is the vibrant sense of community and diversity. There’s a unique blend of cultures, which is reflected in the food, art, and local events. I’m especially fond of the amazing dining options and the rich arts scene that Houston offers. Whether it’s exploring the many parks, enjoying live music, or attending cultural festivals, there’s always something happening that brings people together.
On the downside, one of the challenges I’ve noticed is the traffic, particularly during rush hour. Navigating the busy streets can sometimes be a hassle, especially when trying to get to appointments or events. However, the city’s charm and the warm, welcoming spirit of its residents certainly outweigh the inconveniences!
