Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Duffy
Hi Megan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been very competitive as a kid! Growing up in Houston, I spent so much time outdoors. I’d play a lot of sports at the YMCA and in West U. Played a lot of travel ball too. All of those things nurtured my competitive nature as well as my love for fitness and training. I began college at The University of Houston whilst working two jobs at the time. Around that same time, I began having the idea of being an entrepreneur. Through high school id always run little business or try to start something of my own. I will say one thing about being an entrepreneur is you will fail… and then you’ll win… then you may fail again. As I was navigating college I spent most of my time learning what I DIDNT want. I had to make things work so I didn’t necessarily have the opportunity to explore what I did want. A few things I learned about myself was that I didn’t like to be stagnant and I always wanted a challenge. At the time, I did jobs that were the same everyday and I didn’t see much growth opportunity. Not because the jobs were bad, but because I didn’t have the desire that was needed to give me the edge to become great. I think it’s important for everyone to find whatever it is that absolutely lights them on fire because that’s what’s needed for it to work. I think a lot of my success is attributed to the fact that I nurtured what I loved even while working and studying full time. I’ve always loved training and posting on social media. Yea I know ahhh posting on social media. But I absolutely love it. I love talking to the camera. I love being me and being so transparent about my struggles because I see how much people value that vulnerability and transparency. Plus I just love getting to make jokes and encourage people. So after years of posting on youtube and TikTok, training in the gym, and trying to start multiple business… the perfect storm finally occurred. I had been training for a while and making videos separately while bartending at Lupe Tortilla. In my last year of college, I began posting my training on social media. Now remember, I was spending my free time training and posting for years before I ever made a dime. That’s what a lot of people won’t do. I poured all my time outside of work and school into social media and training. I began training for my first body building show and documented the whole process. It was hard. Body building prep instilled many principles in me that I can translate into my business. I showed up every single day for myself and the few people who followed me. I competed. I won. And I felt euphoric. I suffered more than I ever have to step on stage and naturally, I felt levels of fulfillment that I’ve never felt before. That lit a fire in me. As my social media grew, people began asking questions, looking for advice, needing encouragement. And if there is one thing I love, it’s connection. I began taking on clients to not only transform them but to lead them by example. I started my LLC and never looked back. Now I do this full time and wake up every single day excited to do what I do. I love being an entrepreneur not because of money or perceived freedom, but because it’s a challenge. And things do go wrong… but I face them and fix it. I’m not sure what’s working harder… me on the business or the business on me. I’m so grateful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggle as a new entrepreneur is having to wear all the hats. I’m the marketing director, accountant, coach, social media coordinator, influencer, bodybuilder, the list goes on. And for a while, especially when you lack capital, that’ll be what you have to do. You will not know what to do, ever. There is not a list of how to make the business work because there are so many variables. Yea, it can be optimized but that also takes lots of time researching and learning. There were many times where my back was against the wall and I felt like I didn’t know what to do. Even on my worst months, I didn’t give up. The harder things got, the more I put in, the more time I spent researching what wasn’t working. It’s all about the long game. People mistake entrepreneurship as never working and being rich. But it is far from that. It’s about working more and making more because it’s something that lights a fire in you.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about m3ggylifts?
Im an online coach that specializes in weightloss & muscle growth. I help people transform in 180 days or less. I’m known for transforming people both mentally and physically. When it comes to coaching, I’m different in my coaching style as well as my personality and the way I go about pushing people towards their goals. Im most proud of bringing a positive attitude towards training and weightloss because a lot of people have negative connotations with the industry. Many people come to me for “weightloss” but really they’re trying to be more confident, happier, healthier and they usually don’t like their current lifestyle. This is why the mental transformation is just as important as the physical one.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Me. This may sound selfish. But I matter to me most. Making sure at the end of the day that I am fulfilled is what makes me the best me I can be. Not only for me, but the people I love. I spent a lot of time letting other things matter to me more than they should. When I poured everything I had into myself, It gave me the confidence to get where I am today.
