Inspiring Conversations with Laide Alexander of AccexxInsight

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laide Alexander

Hi Laide, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on January 18, 1975. While growing up, I had the opportunity to experience about 18 countries, and settled in the United Stated in 1996. My parents were very strict, and education was mandatory. My initial purpose for coming to the United States was to further my education, and God has been good so far. The journey has not always been smooth. I have had my share of hard times, and sometimes, when everything is going well, as humans, we will occasionally experience some bumps on the road. I am not exempted from those bumps, but overall, I’m grateful. These challenges have shaped me and made me who I am today.

I have been blessed to hold several executive positions in the education industry, including campus leadership roles, regional and national roles, college president roles, and several other operations roles. One of my most recent roles was serving as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success for an engineering and technical college. My passion for equity in education is unwavering. I am committed to changing the way we see education, believing in creating methodologies that will ensure the applicability of learned content rather than just reading to pass a grade.

My journey of learning and growth has been extensive. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Administration, an MBA in Human Resources Management, and a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Management. These qualifications, coupled with my hands-on experience, have equipped me to make a meaningful difference in the field of education.

I am passionate about providing high-quality education to all individuals. My story began with a desire to make education accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or location. This is not just a dream, but a mission I am committed to. Education is a powerful tool that can transform lives and create positive change in the world, and I am determined to make it a reality for all.

My life’s mission was shaped by a quote I stumbled upon a decade ago. It’s a simple yet profound reminder of the urgency of kindness and the importance of seizing every opportunity to make a positive impact. This quote, attributed to Etienne Grellet, has become my guiding principle: “I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again” – Etienne Grellet – (1773-1855).

I am the Chairperson for The Transformation Platform and the CEO of AccexxInsight. LLC

I was married and divorced, with 2 wonderful children (Joshua and Phoebe) gained from it.

Now, I am remarried to Babajide O. Kupoluyi and blessed with four additional boys (Anjola, Tiolamide, Semilore, and Lashe). We are a family of 8; believe me, we have a very interesting family. I am looking forward to discussing “Laide, Phoebe, and the six boys.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey has not always been smooth. I have had my share of hard times, and sometimes, when everything is going well, we humans will occasionally experience some bumps on the road. Well, I am not exempt from those bumps, but overall, I’m grateful. It’s this gratitude that has helped me see the silver lining in every cloud, and it’s what keeps me hopeful and optimistic.

Despite being divorced, facing financial struggles, and losing everything at one point, I didn’t give up. I had to start all over again with two kids, Joshua and Phoebe. It was a tough journey, but we persevered. I decided to earn my doctorate degree because it reminded me that I was born to change and transform lives. If I didn’t experience these hardships, how could I understand and help others? So, I was grateful for the reward of life lessons and hard work. And the joy of overcoming these struggles is what keeps me uplifted and encouraged.
