Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Freeze
Hi Jon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well I started in 2020, I basically realized there was nothing of mine to physically remember the times of my life that were very near and dear to me. So I decided on buying a film camera, that I still own to this day and then a year later I had gotten pushed into concert photography because a friend of mine asked me to photograph his band. Then funny after that I took a chance on portrait photography, and it was move that I felt nervous on initially but it payed off in the work you see today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all, there have been plenty of errors along the way. I would say that sometimes an idea doesn’t always correlate to a great photoshoot— sometimes the outfits are bit too much, location isn’t always what you think, or the photos don’t always translate to what is in my head. So in my view, it’s always about taking that information and making it a valuable source for the next projects I do, and my work is better for it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So as a photographer, I like to say Im a jack of all trades; I find a lot of the fields in the photography world interesting and enticing. But I would say Im known most for my portrait and concert photography, those two worlds shine brightly in my work. The work I am most proud of is my first big project that was done in Humble, Texas; it involved Two outfits that were set in a Greenhouse in 2022. The most unique factor in my art is my ability to get the most out of the setting that’s available to me and use it to my advantage.
How do you define success?
I would say when the vibe of the photoshoot is joyful, and everyone from the model to photographer has a great chemistry going and it translates into the photos that come through after the shoot. I would say that makes me feel successful the most.
