Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Ibarra.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Angela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always loved baking but never ever thought that I would be making money actually doing what I loved! I started decorating my son’s birthday cakes, then took a couple of decorating classes to improve my skills. Soon, family and friends started asking for cakes for their special events… and all the sudden I had requests from friend’s friends. I found myself with a bunch of pictures of my creations and decided to create a web page to promote this passion… It was the beginning of Angela’s Cakes!!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been easy as I do this work after my full-time job as an Engineer (go figure!). Between work, school, and house responsibilities, there’s not much time to spare! But since doing this relaxes me and I truly love doing it, it has always been a rewarding experience.
Angela’s Cakes – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I strive to make each custom cake as beautiful and personal I can, I also take great pride in how delicious and moist my cakes are for each and every occasion. People say that the best thing about me is the love and dedication I put into my cakes and that shows. I make cakes for every occasion but I have to say I enjoy doing the kids cakes the most! There’s nothing like the face of a child when they see their cake for the first time!
I would love to open my own shop here in Katy and be able to cater to many more people and also offer a bigger variety of desserts.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being able to bring a smile to a sick child with one of my cakes! It’s such a rewarding feeling.
