Check Out Maria Castro’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Castro

Maria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I became a preschool teacher, and I have been working in the early childhood field for 25 years. I studied at Harvard University trying to answer the question “How can we create environments where little ones thrive? My answers are Magic Oak Preschool.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have learned that building a preschool is hard. Due to permits and regulations, we couldn’t open when we were supposed to, which was very stressful. However, the satisfaction of seeing children fill our building with joy and learning makes it worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I care about childhood. I have created a program that is developmentally appropriate and supports the families in our community.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
We just count our blessings. I believe in hard work and dedication,
