Hidden Gems: Meet Cori Glascoe of Kure Salon Suites

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cori Glascoe

Hi Cori, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am Cori Glascoe, from Chester, Pennsylvania a small city outside Philadelphia. I was raised by my mother Angela Dawson and father Corey Glascoe. I am the middle child of three and named after my father. I had a very balanced upbringing, I was able to learn a lot about life at a young age. As a child, I was very observant and learned from others mistakes. My mom raised me to be very independent and my dad raised me to be strong. Growing up I participated in gymnastics, dance, pageants, cotillion, track, cheer, and the list goes on. Being a part of all of these activities gave me the skills to be able to operate in any setting. I always operated in leadership roles, one being the captain of the cheerleading team in high school. My time in high school was amazing, I was homecoming queen and very popular. After high school, I attended Penn State University and later graduated with my bachelor of science in communication.
I had dreams of becoming a news broadcaster but during my schooling, I started doing makeup as a side hustle. By the time I graduated college, I did the math on how much money I could make and my decision was easy. Makeup artistry came easy, I taught myself, and shortly after was servicing celebrities. I’ve always been close to God my whole life so I knew it was a gift from him. I’ve been blessed to do Cardi B, Kash Doll, Coco Jones, Draya Michelle, Lil Mo’ and the list goes on. In my mind, I’ve always been a businesswoman, a work smarter not harder type of mindset so I always knew I would open some kind of business. In 2020 I moved to Houston during the pandemic and now I have a salon suite business. I’m embarking on a new journey and I’m excited to see what the future intel’s.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road, in fact, my whole life has been challenging. I’ve always felt as if I always had to work harder or over come an obstacle. Moving in itself can be challenging but with determination, consistency and prayer, it has been a good journey.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kure Salon Suites ?
I have a luxury salon suite located at 15015 Westheimer Rd. named ‘Kure Salon Suites’. I tried to create an environment where it feels welcoming, luxurious, and fun. As far as my staff, I aspire to have a full staff that has a family feel and feeds off of each other’s energy. As someone who has been a makeup artist for over 10 years, I feel like that’s something that’s missing in the freelance industry. Just having an accountability partner can go a long way. I am most proud of opening my salon suite, this was my ultimate goal. I want your readers to know, that I am a full-service salon suite. You can walk into my salon and find hairstylists, barbers, makeup artists, waxers, lash techs, and more.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The best advice I could give someone starting out is, make a clear plan and write it down. It’s something about writing down the steps, that simplifies the entire process of achieving your goal.
