Today we’d like to introduce you to Alli And Jeffrey Feinstein
Hi Alli and Jeffrey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
From Jeffrey & Alli Feinstein
In October of 2018, while on vacation in Mexico, Jeffrey dove into a resort pool and upon entry broke a vertebrae that wedged into his spinal cord leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. The past six years have not only been filled with the physical hurdles of body and mind improvement but also a necessity to approach life in a very different way then prior to the accident. We have been inundated with family and community support through our journey and know that we will continue to be supported and continuously need that support as time goes on. Life as a quadriplegic has closed some doors but open to many in retrospect and through our advocacy and ambition, we strive to open doors for other individuals experiencing similar physical and mental struggles through life as in paralysis. The journey is arduous and difficult, and no matter who is on the path, it takes a village to forge the next step.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a very bumpy road. Like many things in life, there is no blueprint for the abrupt change in able bodied to paralyzed. For Jeffrey or Alli and their children. The kids are 11 (twin boys) and 7, today, which means that they were 5 and 2 at the time of the injury. In hindsight, Alli and I started from scratch in 2018 – hyper focused on normalizing our children’s lives to the injury and working through all of the boulders that fell into our path. We know that our work is not through, and there will no doubt be continuous challenges, but we do have the right team in place with Alli, our immediate family, and a tight knit corporate and community support system to give us some optimism that we can provide ourselves a fulfilling life and that to our children as well

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
As a commodities trader, Jeffrey is well conditioned to the notion of risk! In a corporate setting, he analyzes risk and reward as a fundamental pillar of his business activity. In his personal life, he takes various risks as well, not the bungee jump kind but the ‘if he can he will kind’. To come to mind distinct to his injury: 1) going through drivers Ed and attaining a driver’s license, purchasing a converted vehicle, and increasing his ability to be present in many situations whether it be through work, family, or social occasions. 2) Under the right to try act, Jeffrey has undergone intravenous and intrathecal stem cell therapy to hopefully catalyze improvement in his nervous system.
