Today we’d like to introduce you to Ambre Luellen
Hi Ambre, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From a very young age, I grew up with a deep love for both art and helping people. I never knew exactly what I wanted to do as an adult because it would change from one day wanting to be a nurse, to the next day doing someone’s hair or make up. However, I was always drawn to creative expression and making a positive impact on other’s lives. This passion is ultimately what inspired me to combine these two elements into a career in permanent makeup and healing tattoos. By being able to blend artistic skill with a desire to empower and support others, I found a way to help people feel confident and reclaim their sense of self through transformative art. It was a perfect combination of two things I loved to do. Having the ability to turn this into a career for myself has made me extremely happy, and proud. I’m grateful to all of my family, friends for support along the way, and most of all my clients. Their trust in me means everything.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building a steady client base has definitely been a challenge, and still is at times because there’s so many larger names out there, so much competition and it’s sometimes hard to stand out. Also, before deciding to do this full-time, I had worked a “regular” job since I was 15 years old; so I was used to collecting a consistent paycheck my whole life. Inconsistent income going out on my own was very scary and also stressful at times. I did everything from the ground up o. My own. Creating my website, marketing for myself, all of the licensing and certifications. It was a bit overwhelming at times, but I figured it out! Another slight challenge is the fact that I have spine issues and tattooing all day, while bent over is a little hard on my body at times.

The field of permanent makeup and healing tattoos combines artistry and empathy to enhance appearance and promote healing. Permanent makeup enhances features like brows and lips with semi-permanent pigments, while healing tattoos restore confidence by camouflaging scars, recreating areolas, camouflaging thin hair areas, or symbolizing personal growth. This work requires technical skill, creativity, and compassion, empowering clients to feel confident and whole.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The permanent makeup and healing tattoo industry is thriving as more people seek meaningful, long-lasting ways to enhance their confidence and reclaim their stories. This field blends artistry with purpose, offering opportunities for creative professionals to make a tangible impact. With advancements in techniques and growing awareness of its transformative potential, it’s a dynamic and rewarding industry poised for continued growth.
