Today we’d like to introduce you to Fernando Noguera.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Moving from Colombia as an immigrant refugee in late 90’s I spent the first few years living in different states learning the language while trying all kind of different jobs. Everything from cleaning offices to valet parking, retail, construction and many others, all of them teaching me valuable business and life lessons along the way. As Steve Jobs said once “You can only connect the dots looking backwards” it is very true line, and it was in the state of Arizona were I decided to start looking into formal education and years later received my Degrees in Business and Interior Design.
In the last semester of Design School I found out that my wife was pregnant. That opened up a new interest, Children’s Interior Design. I started to learn as much as I could on everything from rooms to toys, public parks and children’s entertainment venues. I also started taking my daughter into playgrounds on our free time learning and observing the kids dynamics on this type of places, but after years of researching the industry and dreaming about opening my own indoor playground one day it finally became a reality in 2014. I decided to quit my job and put all my energy into creating a one of a kind playground with the support of my family and business partner David Corbin. Majestkids Playland in Sugar Land, TX opened its doors in November 2015, creating a unique concept for families to spend time with their kids in a safe and clean environment focused on children.
Has it been a smooth road?
Is being a bumpy road since day one with plenty of work hours, sacrifices and obstacles. Finding the right place and trying to convince landlords to believe in a “New” type of business, an idea that you have no previous work experience was not an easy task.
Family time is always reduced now and it’s like having two families than need attention, family waiting at home and the office family waiting at the playground. But at the end of the day having an amazing team, a supporting family and the great Houston community we will keep moving forward.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Majestkids Playland & Adventure Zone – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Here at Majestkids we believe that families deserved to spend more time together our indoor playground was open with the porpoise of being a place for kids to remember a great childhood, a place to play, laugh and bond with their love ones.
I remembered my parents and grandparents taking us almost every Sunday to this restaurant that used to have games and I loved it!
Our play land for kiddos 45” and under is a gate controlled venue decorated with soft color tones, lots of natural light in a space distribution that make it easy to navigate while monitoring the little ones from almost any angle, while our Adventure Zone is a powerful vibrant Ninja Warrior Course with artificial neon lights and several obstacles for different ninja skills.
What set us apart here in Majestkids is the fact that we care, we care for cleanness, we care for safety and we care to provide the best experience to every single person that cross our doors and I think people can feel that.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity of our city I have had the chance to meet people from all over the world and it always feels like we all belong here we all feel comfortable, that being said we all have cultural differences but when it comes to natural disasters, flooding’s or emergencies Houstonians become family every community try to help as much as they can and that make me proud of my city.
If I had the magic of changing something about Houston will be probably related to traffic definitely I don’t enjoy driving in traffic. When I first moved I felt like everyone was driving like a 120 mph, changing the lanes faster they should do, but either I got used to it or I’m one of them now.
