Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Caro

Diana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Celebrating life has always been a cherished tradition in my family. As children, birthdays were more than just a special day -they werw a time to honor who we were and embrace joy- The most meaningful part of our celebrations wasnot about extravagant gifs or grand parties; it was about making ourselves a birthday cake, this family traditioncontinued to be a mother with my children, now that I live in United States I started working as a pastry chef and there I acquired a great experience. I have prepared myself by taking defferent courses and certifications to improve my art as a pastry teacher and I recognozed that many of the mothers in the area where I live also seek to celebrate the lives of their birthdays in a special way, so that’s why my undertaking of being a pastry chef was born.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a very easy process. The firts osbtacle I found was my own fears and doubts, to see if I was capable and enough to be able to run a business. Another inconvenience that I am trying to overcome by taking English classes is to be more fluent in the handling of language, however, I applied to the University of Houston for “Hospitality” training and was certified in November.
In this process I learned that preparation is a key factor for you business to grow, so I am Taking culinary classes focused on healthy food; whit the program “Bite of Hope”, advising myself with a coach, with entrepreneurs, looking for organizations like Baker Ripley, which offer us all the right tools to be able to undertake.
The idea of my business at moment is to stop being an entrepreneur and in two years turn my business into a solid company.
