Today we’d like to introduce you to Teddy Hamilton
Hi Teddy , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Thirteen years ago, my journey with photography began with a Nikon D3000, a modest DSLR that sparked a deep love for capturing moments. Back then, fear of failure and financial uncertainty kept me from pursuing my dream. But as time passed, my passion for photography never waned.
Fast forward to today, and everything changed when my wife became my biggest supporter. She recognized my natural gift for creativity and encouraged me to take the leap of faith I had been hesitating over. With her belief in me as my driving force, I committed myself fully to the craft, spending countless nights and hours studying photography and mastering the art. YouTube became my classroom, and determination became my fuel.
The turning point came when I connected with Houston-based photographer Andre Kelly, a respected artist in the field and, coincidentally, a family member. Under his mentorship, I joined Spotlight Studios, an opportunity that felt like stepping into a dream. Since then, I’ve poured my heart into bringing stories to life through my lens, proving that when passion and persistence align, the results are nothing short of extraordinary.
Today, I’m living proof that it’s never too late to chase what sets your soul on fire.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. The biggest hurdle I faced was finding the courage to start and overcoming the fear of failure. Photography is as much about vulnerability as it is about skill—putting your vision out there for the world to see takes bravery. But I’ve learned that failure is just another step toward growth, and those early fears have turned into lessons that shape my work today.
How do you think about luck?
Coming from a strong faith-based background as the son of a pastor and the grandson of two pastors, I don’t believe in luck. My faith has been my foundation, and I’ve witnessed firsthand what God can do when you put Him first in your life. We call it Favor—a blessing that has guided my path, opened doors, and made what once seemed impossible a reality.
